We (the Environment Agency and Defra Flood Digital team) have been engaging with users to improve our Check for flooding beta service are looking for volunteers to help us with some user research on a rainfall feature we are developing

We only need 30 to 45 minutes of your time, between 9am and 4pm until Tuesday 23rd February 2021. If you are interested, please respond by sending an email to [email protected] with the Subject: Rain Gauge Research Participation

Over the last year, over 8 million people have used the existing flood service, so your feedback really will help improve the service for millions of people.

During these unpredictable times, we want to continue to help people who suffer from flooding and we hope that you are willing to take part in flood research.

We're the team that support the flood information service on GOV.UK and we've been working on a new design of the service called Check for flooding. It’s currently a ‘beta’ service. This means it’s the first version of it.

We’re designing the new service with input from flood wardens and community flood groups. It aims to bring together all the information you need in one place with more detail. We hope this helps you to understand your risk of flooding more quickly. We wanted to make this available to communities ahead of Storm Christoph.

You can try the new service and leave feedback at: https://check-for-flooding.prd.defra.cloud/

It might sometimes be unavailable if we’re making changes but you can still use the existing flood information service on GOV.UK at any time.

How the flood information service is being transformed to be more user-centred by designing it end-to-end, front-to-back, and for every channel.

Today, we made an update to the way we share live flood warning information with other organisations. It will now be shared near instantly, removing the previous 6 minute delay. This means we can now better share our info through real-time channels such as social media, and provide direct links to the Flood Information Service on GOV.UK in the text messages we issue.
