Moore Nature Reserve

Moore Nature Reserve 200-acre nature reserve open at all times to the general public. Free parking and entry. Throughout the seasons a variety of wildlife can be found.

Moore Nature Reserve comprises almost 200 acres of woodland, meadows, lakes and ponds. It is home to many diverse species of plants, animals, birds and other wildlife. The nature reserve is well known for its varied bird life, and many interesting birds can be found either as year-round residents or seasonal visitors. Spring and summer bring a host of wonderful wildflowers including many orchids,

and a large array of dragonflies. In autumn many fantastic fungi can be found. Moore Nature Reserve provides a variety of habitats and supports rare, threatened and legally protected species including great crested newts and water voles. Our ongoing sensitive management of these habitats is essential to help safeguard such species. Moore Nature Reserve is also a great place to take a walk in the countryside. Our paths, benches and bird hides make exploring the site enjoyable for everybody. Schools, colleges and universities use the site as an educational resource, and guided walks and other assistance can be provided by the wardens. Volunteer groups carry out practical conservation work and wildlife monitoring to assist in the continuing good management of the reserve. A programme of events has been set up to help everybody become involved and learn about the wildlife and history of Moore Nature Reserve. An enchanting place for everyone with an interest in nature and an attractive place in which to walk and enjoy the peaceful countryside. Moore Nature Reserve is managed by wardens employed by FCC Environment, operators of nearby Arpley Landfill site. Please note:
Dogs are welcome at the reserve, although to prevent disturbance to wildlife we do ask that all dogs be kept on leads when not in our designated dog recreation area. Cycling is not allowed on any part of the reserve. Bicycles can be left at the cycle rack in the car park. Fishing is not allowed on any water bodies at Moore Nature Reserve.

Thanks Ben Morris for today another job ticked off the list on the reserve keeping people and the wildlife safe! If you have a few spare hours I'd be grateful if anyone could pop down and give me a hand. I have some more fencing to do and some gate repairs that are needed! Anything is appreciated.

Thanks Annemarie

🌲🌳Upcoming tree works 🌳🌲

The left and right of the Birchwood Strip hide is having the trees over hanging in the water removed. This requires the fenceline to be removed and vehicles being driven on to the meadow. This area will be closed while this work is undertaken. As the trees are being dragged from the waters edge. This will open up the view from both hides. I will let you know when this work is due to commence. Thanks Annemarie
