Impact Warrington

Impact Warrington Impact Warrington helps provide opportunities for local businesses to support voluntary and community groups through employer supported volunteering.

Employer supported volunteering allows employees to participate in voluntary activities in their local communities which builds relationships and partnerships between the sectors. This helps to promote staff development, generates pride in the workplace, develops team building, improves communication techniques, promotes diversity and improves staff morale and retention levels. The community gains

through volunteer resources for its project, activity or service delivery and benefits from specialist skills and knowledge and joint solutions to problem solving. It also helps to deliver an improved and effective service.

Members of staff from Novelis spent the day with St Matthew's School in Stretton on the 13th October helping out internally and externally. Staff at the schoold were delighted with the results and the team at Novelis found it hugely satisfying for all those involved and it provided an opportunity for employees from different parts of the business to work together on a project when, on a day to day basis, they have very little contact.

Impact Warrington has been at the Warrington Voluntary Action Funding Fair in the Gateway today with guest speakers from Santander, Lloyds TSB Foundation, Cheshire Community Foundation and the Lottery. It was brilliant to see such an amazing turn out and hopefully everyone has gone away with some useful information... including how businesses can support them without giving money!!!

On Saturday 3 members of staff from Scottish Power lent a hand and worked hard helping to paint the perimeter fence at Burtonwood Scout Hut. They managed to get most of it done (it's a big fence) with just a tiny bit left to finish off.

Scottish Power also kindly bought some materials to do the job and worked out that the benefit in kind came in at an amazing £408.78!!!

Members of staff from Reston's Solicitors also spent a day at the end of September painting the floor and walls of the newly reburbished gym at Warrington Rowing Club.

If anyone wants to get involved in helping this great club, and is maybe looking for a physcial team challenge/volunteering opportunity, Warrington Rowing Club are looking for volunteers to help resurface their car park (and for anyone that knows, this is very much needed!). If you can help, please contact Rebecca at Warrington Voluntary Action on 01925 246880 x

Another big thank you to Neill Monks from Natural Focus Photography who has been doing some pro-bono work with Warrington Community Living to support their new website which is currently being developed. Neill has also kindly offered to help train some of the staff so that they will be able to take their own good quality pictures in the future. This is a brilliant example of how businesses can support and help build the skills of staff working in the community and voluntary sector.
