Food waste recycling.
A few weeks into the Council's food waste recycling collection.
Great to see lots of people using it. Inevitably some resistance but just to say this is Government legislation and Warrington was fortunate to have Government funding to roll it out - so it is not coming our of your Council Tax.

A few teething troubles inevitably but the collection is by a different vehicle and a different crew to your black and blue bin collections.

Lots of residents are able to compost food waste or have dustbin dogs but many properties with small/no gardens, it's not so easy. Even if you only have a small amount of waste (coffee grounds, teabags, chicken bones) multiplied by 90,000 households across Warrington, it all helps. Food recycling means your black bin should be less smelly and as long as you lock your recycling caddy properly, no vermin.
Some households still don't seem to have received their caddies so if that's you, email [email protected]. Advice is to put your house number on your food caddy.
And if your collection is missed, you can report it (details below).

The Environment Act 2021 says we have to offer residential properties a weekly food waste recycling collection. This must be separate from other household waste collections. We have joined many towns and cities collecting food waste.
