We are delighted to have hosted our screening of the National Emergency Briefing at the The University Centre in Warrington on Friday. It was inspiring to see over 50 people from across the borough come together to watch the film and engage with the panel discussion 🌍 🎬

The film carries some heavy themes, asserting the direction we are heading if we don't take action to address the climate and nature crises. Despite this, there was some positive energy in the room and evidence of shared purpose, highlighting opportunities for taking local action to reduce emissions and help nature to recover.

It also felt especially timely. Friday marked the beginning of the May heatwave which saw record breaking temperatures recorded over the bank holiday weekend. This is a reminder that the impacts of climate change are not distant and are already affecting our communities.

A huge thankyou to everyone who joined us and contributed to the discussion.

If you couldn't make it there are more screenings taking place around the country. You can find your nearest on the screening map: https://www.nebriefing.org/screening-map

πŸ”¦ Spotlight on Local Climate Action 🌻

Sandy Lane Nursery and Forest School has strengthened its sustainability across the board. Efforts include reducing single‑use plastics, growing vegetables on site, harvesting rainwater, and encouraging reuse through second‑hand uniform options and book swaps.

Children also play an active role, using recycling bins, caring for wildlife, gardening, exploring the weather, and engaging in creative junk modelling. Together they are helping build a environmentally conscious community.
