A local military youth organisation based in Wantage, Oxfordshire.

Then welcome to the Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC). Better known as the 'Air Cadets', we’re a UK-wide cadet force with more than 40,000 members aged between 12 and 20 y

ears. We're sponsored by the Royal Air Force and can give you hands-on experience of activities and courses that will challenge and develop your skills to help you succeed in whatever you want to do. RAFAC is made up of two areas:

Air Training Corps - The ATC is the RAF's cadet force, divided into 6 Regions, 36 Wings and more than 900 Squadrons within communities around the UK

Combined Cadet Force (RAF) - The CCF (RAF) is our section of the CCF which is made up of cadets from all three services, coming together in approximately 200 independent and state schools across the country.

Today we remember and honour the brave men and women who took part in the D-Day landings on 6th June 1944.

On the 82nd anniversary of this historic day, we pause to reflect on the courage, sacrifice and determination shown by those who fought to secure our freedom. Many never returned home, and their bravery will never be forgotten.

We will remember them.

81 years ago today, millions in the Allied nations celebrated the end of the Second World War in Europe.

Whilst fighting continued in the Far East until August, Victory in Europe Day was a significant moment in bringing an end to the global conflict.

Up and down the country people breathed a sigh of relief and took to the streets to celebrate.

Today we pay tribute to the Second World War generation, whose service and sacrifice protected the freedoms we enjoy today.

This evening representatives of the Sqn, including the current Mayor's Cadet, attended the Wantage Town Mayor's Volunteer Reception.

Whilst there we were able to have a chat with the Oxfordshire High Sheriff, John May CVO OBE DL.

The High Sheriff is a ceremonial officer serving as the King's representative for law and order.
