๐Ÿ’ฅ Conservation Cow Guided Walk ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Thank you to everyone that attended our two conservation cow guided walks, at Cannock Chase Country Park, over the past week! ๐Ÿฎ

We all learnt a great deal about conservation grazing, heathland plants, conservation methods and much more ๐Ÿฎ๐ŸŒณ

We were even graced by the cows coming to see us, right at the end of the walk! We even had a nice display of deer, moving through the heathland regeneration area ๐ŸฆŒ๐ŸŒณ

Cannock Chase Special Area of Conservation Partnership

30/05/2026

Whilst out on the Chase you may notice these being installed, they are vehicle counters.

The SAC Partnership have an obligation to collect data on how visitors access the Chase and been monitoring how car parks are used since 2017 alongside regular visitor surveys. These counters will provide consistent data and free up staff time.

Why count vehicles?
Unfortunately there is very little public transport on to the Chase so the vast majority of visitors come by car. Recording where people park helps us understand the choices of our visitors and the impacts on the protected landscape. It also tells us where engagement, education and improvement projects should be directed.

This work is not related to parking charges.

If you would like to find out more about the work of the SAC Partnership please visit https://cannockchase.org.uk/about-the-sac/ our website also has lots of information and advice for planning a visit, the species that make the Chase their home and how you can enjoy it whilst allowing the precious habitats on the Chase to thrive.

Our Country Park Rangers have been working at Froghall Wharf sprucing up the site for the installation of new interpretation boards telling the story of the rich history! ๐Ÿช๐Ÿชš

On the back of car park and path surface work, new bollards have been installed, and the sign bases revamped ๐ŸŒณ
