We are a Joint Helicopter Command Main Operating Base in Oxfordshire. We are currently home to the Puma Force (comprising 33 and 230 Squadrons), the combined Puma and Chinook Operational Conversion Unit (28 Squadron), 606 (Chiltern) Squadron Royal Auxiliary Air Force and the Joint Helicopter Support Squadron. Residents are advised that an airfield pest control shoot will be taking place at RAF Benson on 20 Aug (Tomorrow).

๐Ÿ•— Time: 2030โ€“0200 hrs (Local Time)

This activity forms part of routine airfield wildlife and pest management measures to help maintain the safety of flying operations. Personnel will be operating within the airfield boundary during this period.

Local residents may notice increased activity and intermittent noise associated with the operation. All activity will be conducted by trained personnel and in accordance with relevant safety procedures.

On Thursday 13 August, RAF Benson will be hosting its annual Families Day event.

Local residents may notice an increase in activity on and around the station throughout the day, including additional traffic and aircraft movements, as well as music until approximately 2300.

We would like to thank our neighbours for their continued support and understanding as we celebrate and recognise the families who play such an important role in supporting our personnel.

๏ฟผAfter undergoing an extensive refurbishment, our beloved Spitfire gate guardian has been reinstalled at RAF Benson. A massive thank you to Joint Aircraft Recovery & Transportation Squadron and the dedicated personnel who managed the lift and secured this iconic piece of aviation history back onto her pedestal. ๏ฟผ

Weโ€™re proud to announce that RAF Bensonโ€™s own Cpl Deborah has been presented the People Award for an exceptional contribution to the welfare, morale and lived experience of personnel at their unit and beyond.

Cpl Deborah was presented the award at the 2 Group Conference on Thursday 9th July, celebrating work across a wide range of voluntary roles as well as support for charity fundraising, event organising and using personal time to help with initiatives to improve the wellbeing of others.

Through compassion, humility and selfless service, Corporal Deborah has had a lasting positive impact on morale, community spirit and the lived experience of the Whole Force.
