🏉 Congratulations to Benson Bulldogs & Odiham Eagles! 🏆

A huge well done to Benson Bulldogs and Odiham Eagles on an outstanding victory in the RAF Rugby Union Cup Final at RAF Halton last week!

After a tough first half that saw them trailing 13–8, the team showed incredible determination, resilience, and teamwork to turn the game around—finishing with an impressive 24–13 win over Marham Bulls. 💪

The 25-man squad was made up of 17 Service Personnel from RAF Benson with Sgt Jacob as captain and AS1 Charles as Vice-captain.

What a fantastic display of grit and spirit to come back and claim the cup in style! 👏

👀 On the 12 May 26, RAF Benson’s Spitfire Gate Guard is being removed for restoration. 👀

It feels especially fitting that this takes place around the 81st anniversary of VE Day – a time to remember the courage and sacrifice of those who served in the Second World War, and the pivotal role the Spitfire played in achieving victory in Europe.

We’ll share updates as this important restoration progresses.

📣 Notice to all drone operators in the local area 📣

We encourage drone operators to remain aware of the RAF Benson Flight Restriction Zone (FRZ). Within this area it is illegal to fly any Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) without permission from Station Operations.

Find details on this page: https://www.raf.mod.uk/our-organisation/stations/raf-benson/flying-info/

Drone pilots should be aware that the rules for flying UAS changed on 2 Jan 26. If you have not already done so, you can find the most up to date regulations, rules and safety guidance for flying remotely piloted aircraft via the following link:

See What You Can Be – inspiring the next generation of females 🙌

Yesterday, young women from Oxfordshire schools met inspiring role models at RAF Benson, proving any career is possible.

"As a school, we love coming here. Students are realising they really can be whatever they want, which is the whole point of the event. They are coming away believing they have all these incredible opportunities available to them that they might not have thought possible before." — Becky Kenneally, Head of Key Stage 3.

With talks and hands-on activities from Olympians, pilots, engineers, the World’s Strongest Woman, emergency services, adventurers, and innovators, the event highlighted the power of belief, resilience, and determination. Students were urged to challenge stereotypes, close the “dream gap,” and ask: If they can do it, why not me?

"The activities were interactive and engaging, and everyone was very supportive of what we wanted to do. I really enjoyed meeting the pilots because I want to become one someday. Seeing that they were women and being able to talk to them and ask questions, was amazing. Not a lot of females are pilots, so seeing that it is possible gave me so much encouragement— Student, The Piggott School

Cate Wilson-Coombs, Careers Leader from The Downs School surmised the day with ‘ It was an extremely valuable day that inspires our students to think beyond the traditional workplace expectations and believe there are no limits to what they can achieve.’

For the fourth year running, students left inspired: Dream big. Believe in yourself. See What You Can Be.
