Today marks the Official Birthday of His Majesty The King, a moment of national celebration and reflection.

For the Sapper family, it is also an opportunity to recognise His Majesty’s close association with the Corps of Royal Engineers. As Colonel-in-Chief, he continues a proud tradition of royal connection that has spanned generations.

As Patron of the Royal Engineers Association, His Majesty’s support holds particular significance for our members, our veterans, and their families.

We extend our sincere good wishes for the occasion and give thanks for his continued support.

Ubique.

Looking for more than just the usual routine?

At 299 Para Sqn RE, our Reservists balance civilian careers with demanding military training, developing fitness, leadership and confidence along the way. Whether it's field exercises, adventure training, competitive sport or working towards P Company and parachute training, there are opportunities to challenge yourself and achieve things you may never have thought possible.

If you're looking for a role that will push you, develop you and introduce you to a team of like-minded people, the Army Reserve could be for you.

20 Years of 299⁣⁣...
⁣⁣
This weekend, serving soldiers, veterans, families and friends came together to celebrate 20 years since the re-formation of 299 Parachute Squadron Royal Engineers. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The occasion provided an opportunity to reflect on the Squadron's history, recognise its achievements and reconnect with those who have contributed to its success over the past two decades.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Occasions like this are also a reminder of the support provided by families. Army Reserve service requires time away from home for training, exercises, operations and courses, and none of this would be possible without the understanding, patience and encouragement of partners, spouses and families who support us throughout the year. Their contribution is often unseen, but it is no less important.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
We were also pleased to be joined by our Honorary Colonel, Al Murray, whose support for the Squadron continues to be greatly appreciated, and Mr Bob Prosser BEM who travelled all the way up north from the Chelsea Hospital in London. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the event a success, including the Royal Engineers Association (REA) and CamCam Productions for their generous support and donations. Here's to the next chapter in the history of 299 Para Sqn RE.

Today we remember the soldiers, sailors and airmen who took part in the D-Day landings of 6 June 1944, one of the most significant operations of the Second World War. Their courage, sacrifice and determination helped secure a foothold in Normandy and ultimately contributed to the liberation of Europe.⁣

The airborne forces played a vital role in the operation, parachuting into Normandy during the early hours to secure key objectives ahead of the main landings. These actions established a legacy that continues to inspire today's airborne soldiers.⁣

The photographs accompanying this post were taken during the 79th anniversary commemorations in Normandy, where members of 299 Para Sqn had the privilege of parachuting onto the historic drop zones in tribute to those who made the jump before them.
