We want our page to be a place where people can share how they feel about the National Trust and talk about their experiences in a fun environment. We welcome

feedback – both positive and negative. It helps us to learn and grow. These house rules aim to ensure everyone can enjoy themselves while they’re here:

We ask you to be nice and polite to one another, and respect each other’s views and comments. We ask all users to ensure your contributions are civil, polite, tasteful and suitable for all ages. We won't tolerate disruptive, offensive or abusive behaviour, unlawful or objectionable content. This includes any material which might be defamatory, offensive, infringing, obscene, lewd, pornographic, violent, abusive, insulting, threatening, harassing, discriminatory, blasphemous, indecent or otherwise unlawful or objectionable. It also includes any material which is aggressive, argumentative or likely to be construed as bullying, and it includes spamming or repetition - in particular the posting of off-topic material in subject-specific threads or areas.

*Moderation policy*

In general, we don’t moderate posts, except on the rare occasions - for example where someone has posted offensive, threatening or libellous content about named or identifiable individuals on our page. We have a duty to protect our staff and volunteers, so while deleting comments is totally out of character for us, our position is that any post containing a libellous accusations, should be removed. We’ll also remove any posts that in any way target individual teams or members of staff. We will not comment on our staff and volunteers in this way in public forums. If any correspondent has feedback to share about any individual members of staff or teams in the organisation, please get in touch with us directly. If an individual continues to post offensive, threatening or libellous content then we’ll be forced to block that person from the page. Similarly, if any individual repeatedly posts contributions of the nature noted above in the 'material' list, we'll again be forced to block that individual from the page (in this scenario, we will have warned the individual about their content at least twice previously). We won’t tolerate postings, content, or links that are racist, sexist or homophobic. We also don’t permit linking to or posting any content which endorses illegal activity, or any activities against the values of the National Trust. Finally, please note that the views on our page are created by our community and don’t necessarily represent the views or opinions of National Trust.

👨‍🌾 Are you ready to step into the Life of a Gardener this May Half Term? 👩‍🌾

From 23rd to 31st May collect an activity booklet and explore the house and gardens to find out more about the secrets of Nostell's gardens.

🏠In the house, explore the rooms to discover historic recipes and where the ingredients can be found growing outside today. Uncover how the outdoors inspired the decor of the rooms and how what was grown in the gardens was used inside. The house is open every day over May Half Term between 11 - 4pm (last entry 3.15pm)

🌹In the gardens, follow the trail to hidden corners of the gardens to find out how gardeners past and present cared for the outdoors. Take part in activities such as a wellie toss game, finding the gardeners tool game and creating your own recipe card. The gardens are open 11am - 5pm (last entry 4pm).

🫟Get creative and create your own paper scarecrow in the House Workshop each day of May Half Term. Take your little scarecrow home and place it in a plant pot to protect your own garden plants. Crafts run from 11am - 3pm.

🌳Collect a rock spotter sheet from the ticket office, house entrance or garden entrance and head down to Joiners Wood to locate all of the painted rocks. While at Joiners Wood why not have a go at den building or the wild parts play? There is plenty to keep the little ones entertained.

Our National Police Dog Trials Family Fun Day is happening tomorrow and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to Nostell 🐶🎊

If you’re arriving by car, please follow the signs on Doncaster Road for ‘Event Parking’. There will be officers and stewards ready to point you in the right direction.

Pre-booked event parking is fully booked. If you have booked a space, please have your confirmation ready to show on arrival.

If you haven’t pre-booked a space, a limited number of extra spaces are available.

We are expecting it to be extremely busy, so if you haven’t pre-booked parking, we would encourage you to arrive early or consider using public transport 🚌

Unfortunately, once the car parks are full, they will be closed until spaces become available again and there are no other parking options in the nearby area.

The National Police Dog Trails 2026 kick off at Nostell this week 🐾

Thinking of visiting us on 16th May? Here is some useful information to help you plan:

🚘The main visitor carpark will open at 8am instead of 7am on the 16th May. The designated blue badge carpark beside the Stables will be out of use during the event due to the secure transportation of the competing dogs. Designated blue badge parking will be located at the main visitor carpark with committed buggy runs for this area.

🎟 If you are attending the event and have pre-booked parking this is located at Nostell Roses and not the main visitor carpark. Please follow satnav directions for WF4 1QA, or directional signage on Doncaster Road on the event day. Anyone attending with pre-booked accessible parking should arrive at the main visitor carpark (satnav directions WF4 1QE).

Pre-booked parking for the National Police Dog Trials is now sold out.

🐾Please ensure your four legged friends are kept on a lead while in the parkland. Dogs are permitted off lead in the dog run enclosure.

⏰ The house and gardens will follow regular opening hours and standard admission applies.

❗️Visiting on the day? Please make sure to check the red banner on our website for the latest updates regarding car park capacity and access.

For more information please visit the West Yorkshire Police event page:

Some familiar faces are returning to Nostell today 🐮

That's right the cattle have returned to site for grazing. Cattle grazing is an important part of how we conserve our parkland, helping to boost biodiversity.

Keep an eye out for signage on the pedestrian gates within the parkland. These will indicate where the cattle are and alternative walking routes if you wish to avoid the cattle.

Please help us look after the cattle at Nostell by keeping gates closed and dogs on a lead 🐾
