All the children really enjoyed their visit to the Sculpture Park and Monday and Tuesday of this week.

They were inspired by the work of Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth and have produced some wonderful sculptures of their own. They are all very much looking forward to sharing them with you at our Art Week Parents' Presentation tomorrow at 2:45pm.

If you are able to attend, please come into school via the main office. Mrs Mitchell will share with you a brief overview of the work the children have completed and then you will have the opportunity to visit your child/children's classrooms.

Once you have had the opportunity to see your child/children's work, they are able to leave with you. If you need to collect a sibling, please go outside to collect them from their usual exit and not through school.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

A huge congratulations to Maya in Year 5 for having her poem, 'The Hardship of the Second World War,' published in the Lest We Forget Whispers of War anthology.
It is an amazing poem and such a wonderful achievement! I will be sharing it with the rest of school in assembly on Friday.
I would also like to thank Maya for providing school with a signed copy. It will take pride of place in the library.

I wanted to congratulate our Year 6 pupils for the mature manner in which they approached their SATs this week. They all remained calm and positive throughout and tried their very best. We could not have asked for any more.

They are currently enjoying a very well deserved games afternoon in the sunshine along with party food.

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you are fully aware, the Year 6 pupils will be taking their end of Key Stage 2 SATS next week.

I wanted to let you know that every pupil has worked incredibly hard, not just this year, but throughout the time that they have been at Crofton Junior School. They have approached all the additional SAT focused preparation work that we have provided with great maturity and dedication. They have all done everything possible to achieve their very best and are very keen to do so.

I would ask that this weekend, the children are given the opportunity to relax and rest and enjoy themselves. I wouldn’t ask anyone to complete any last-minute work.

Please make sure that they get an early night on Sunday, and they arrive in time to enjoy their breakfast with their friends at 8:15am. This will help settle their nerves and put them in a positive frame of mind. I would ask that this is repeated until Thursday, which is the day of the last test.

If there are any issues at home which may impact on your child getting to school on time, attending school or achieving the very best, please let school know as we may be able to make special arrangements.

Finally, I would like to reiterate that no matter the outcome of next week, every pupil in Year 6 has demonstrated an outstanding attitude towards their work this year. We could not have asked any more of them and we are extremely proud of them, as I am sure you are.

Yours faithfully,

Mr Birdsall

Our final full day at Chateau Beaumont has come to an end. The children had a great time at the disco before hot chocolate and lights out. It is an early start tomorrow, but well worth it when we get to see the Bayeux Tapestry!

The children have taken part in archery, zip wire and nightline this afternoon in the glorious sunshine.

We are all pretty much packed for an early start tomorrow, we are leaving for Bayeux at 6:15am. All that is left to pack are our travelling clothes, pyjamas, toiletries and of course party clothes for the disco tonight.

This morning we visited Fougeres Castle, which played a significant role in the 100 Years War between England and France and also battles between Brittany and Normandy.

Bonjour,

The children had another good sleep last night and have enjoyed their breakfast this morning.

We have just set off to visit Fougeres Castle. We will be having lunch in a local park before returning to the Chateau for archery, nightline and zip wire.

Au revoir.
