Hi everyone,

My name is Lloyd, and I’m the Head of Patrols for Safeguard Community Support (SCS)

Firstly, I want to thank each and every one of you for your incredible support for our cause — to make our town as safe as possible.

This is one heck of a challenge. We knew it was going to be tough, but knowing we have so much support from the public makes it that little bit easier.

I’m regularly monitoring the posts and comments online regarding SCS, and one of the biggest things I see is people asking us to cover their area.

That is something we would absolutely love to do.

For example, last night/Monday, I kept seeing repeated comments asking us to look at Winton. I managed to get a team together, which meant we were able to make that happen.

But unfortunately, this isn’t always possible.

As much as I would love to send teams all over the town, I can only do that if we have more volunteers.

So, here’s where you come in…

Could you spare a few hours a week to help make YOUR town safer?

You don’t need any previous experience. Full training will be provided, so all you need is the willingness to get involved and make a difference.

By joining SCS, you can:

• Be part of our growing community
• Get those steps in!
• Meet like-minded people
• Help us cover more areas of our town
• Receive full training
• Get access to discounts from local businesses supporting SCS
• Most importantly, help make a difference in your community

And don’t worry — you don’t have to commit straight away.

Feel free to ask us any questions or come along for a shadow shift and see exactly what we do, with absolutely no commitment.

Where were the second team last night? Bournemouth town centre!

They had a lovely quiet night, no problems. The team listened to the areas requested on yesterday mornings post and went to as many as they could.

We will always listen and try to attend as many of the areas requested as we can. Please keep telling us where you need us.

You asked, we listened.

On yesterday mornings Facebook post, many people requested we come to Winton as they were seeing a lot of anti social behaviour in the evenings.

Well our amazing team stepped up and made sure they could go out and support in the area.

The team met a lot of new people who were pleased to see us out. That is so great to see and hear.

Safeguard Community Support, we are there where you need us.

That’s just an amazing amount and we can’t thank everyone who attended, bought raffle tickets and shared the event enough.

Good morning, Happy Saturday!

Thursday night’s patrol went well, with one team out in Bournemouth again. It was a lovely, quiet evening.

As you can see from the map, the team covered a good-sized area, getting plenty of steps in along the way!

Yesterday was another important training day for our Safeguard Community Support volunteers, helping ensure our team has the skills and confidence to support the community safely.

Four of our volunteers attended their EFAW (Emergency First Aid at Work) course, delivered by 1st Response Training, and all successfully passed.

Meanwhile, Lloyd, our Head of Patrols, completed and passed his Level 2 Fire Safety / Fire Marshal training, adding another valuable qualification to our team.

Training is a huge part of what we do at SCS. Our volunteers give up their own time not only to patrol our communities, but also to undertake professional training that helps them respond appropriately when situations arise.

A massive congratulations to everyone who completed their training, and a big thank you to 1st Response Training for their continued support.

As you can see from our Apple Watches, we regularly do 10,000+ steps in a single night. And quite often, it’s even more!

🥊 THIS IS WHY SYA EXISTS 🥊

Sometimes the most powerful way to explain the impact of the Safeguard Youth Alliance is to hear it directly from a parent.

Sabrina shared this with us about her son:

“Honestly, I wish more people could see the impact you are having on kids. I saw my son going down a very bad road and never thought he’d be able to take a different turn — and the change in him is massive.

He had no idea what his future would look like, and when asked he would just say, ‘I dunno.’

He is now so much more focused and wants to become a professional boxer. He really wants to put his all into it.”

This is exactly why we created Safeguard Youth Alliance – From Streets to Sport.

It isn’t simply about teaching a young person how to box. It’s about giving them direction, discipline, confidence, positive role models and something to believe in.

A huge thank you to Mackenzie’s Boxing Academy for helping give young people opportunities like this, and to all of our partner clubs and sponsors who make the programme possible.
