Our fantastic Verwood Concert Brass are off to the Nationals. They need your help! Please donate a £1 or 2 (or more) here https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/vcb-nationals
Thank you!

We need your help. Our Verwood Concert Brass Band and Verwood Town Band have both qualified to compete in the National Finals. An amazing achievement BUT costs a HUGE amount of money in entry fees, coach hire and hotels. Your support is welcomed.

Looking at options to replace/repair the round logo & sign underneath it. As well as looking at putting more stickers up, can anyone recommend 3D printers locally? Thank you!

FIRE STATION CLOSURE CONSULTATION CLOSES 5PM TODAY

The link is here - https://www.dwfire.org.uk/about-us/your-fire-and-rescue-service/proposed-station-closures/

Verwood & Three Legged Cross Town Council's response from the Mayor is as follows;

Verwood & Three Legged Cross Town Council is deeply concerned about the proposals to close 4 fire stations across Dorset. Of particular concern to our communities is the proposed closure of Cranborne Fire station.
Ahead of the consultation closing, we want to add our objection to these proposals which are opposed by a significant number of local residents, our local MP and Councillors. Whilst appreciating the financial pressure that the wider service is under, these closures disproportionately affect rural and semi-rural areas. The hollowing out of rural services must stop.
However, it is the knock on impact of Verwood’s fire station that is the biggest concern for Verwood Town Council and many of our residents. The closure of Cranborne fire station will undoubtably require our local station, and the brilliant firefighters that serve here, to cover an even wider area. Serving an ever increasingly large area, or being required to plug gaps across Dorset due to closures invariably means spending less time in Verwood and the area that this station was designed to cover.
Verwood and Three Legged Cross is surrounded by forest and heathland, some of it is internationally important. Many homes are located very close to these areas. In recent years there has been a number of significant fires in these areas and it seems clear that this is an upward trend, here in Verwood and across Dorset. I gather that the Service has had its busiest summer ever last year. This is not the time to be closing fire stations.
Verwood Town Council objects to these proposals due to the impact on Verwood and the reduced ability that spreading the crews at Verwood too thinly. We want to put on thanks our deep admiration for the work of our local firefighters and the work more generally of the Fire and Rescue service. The team have always been there when Verwood and Three Legged Cross has needed them and by opposing these plans, we wish to see this continue.

We have identified an administrative error affecting paper copies of the consultation questionnaire that were made available at the public events. A question was missing from those paper copies.

A large transformer delivery is expected at Mannington substation in May.

A transformer converts the voltage of electricity so that it can be safely supplied to homes and businesses.
Delivery of the transformer is expected during the late afternoon of Saturday 23 May 2026. The transformer is expected to leave Poole Harbour early that morning. Please note, the date and time of the delivery is subject to change.

National Grid have contacted residents and business close along the route closest to the substation.

They have carefully planned the route with their specialist haulage contractors, Allelys, and the local highway authorities to minimise the disruption to road users. The vehicle will have an es**rt to help manage traffic and make the process as smooth and safe as possible.

Due to the size of the delivery, they will be using a slow-moving transporter vehicle to ensure that this delivery can take place safely. This will mean there will be some rolling road closures, as the vehicle carrying the equipment travels north from Poole Harbour along Blandford Road, before turning eastbound onto the A35/A350. The vehicle will then travel north on the A349 (Gravel Hill) before turning east onto the A31 and then north on Ringwood Road. The transformer will then turn westboundalong Horton Road and Ringwood Road before arriving at Mannington substation on Holt Road (see map below).
There will be no impact on electricity supply.
