Part 3 🏇

For race 6, Aaron, Casper and Connor were given the prestigious role of choosing the best turned out horse. They were given advice on what to look for and how the stable staff prepare the horses.
The boys then presented the prize to the winning handler and then after watching the race were invited to the winners enclosure to present the trophy to the winning owners.
In the last race Oli, Dan and Greg were given the same honor. An incredible opportunity for the group and a great day out.

Many thanks to all at for all the behinds the scenes access and giving the class an inspirational experience they will never forget!

Part 2 🏇

The students then received presentations and Q&A with various career roles including the Executive Director, Business Manager, Catering and operations manager, Clerk of the Course and Marketing Executive.
The students then met with Andrew Thornton the Raceday presenter and former professional jockey - Andrew showed the students in the jockey's changing area, the judges room, how the weigh in process works and a stewards enquiry. Andrew explained how many varied job roles there are in racing and entry points and career pathways available.
Throughout the day students had the opportunity to speak to grounds staff, stable staff, trainers jockeys and officials as well as vending stalls and the Greyhound Dog charity.

Part 1 🏇
On Thursday 4th June, Mr Barrow took 12, Year 12 BTEC Sport students for a Careers in Sport Day at .
Kindly organised by Carrie (Executive Director) and Liz (Business Manager). The students received a guided tour of the racecourse before opening, including getting to go on the roof top, in the stable area, weighing room, hospitality, betting hall, officials offices etc. The students were treated to their own box for the day close to the winning post.

On Saturday 27th June, we would like to invite parents, carers, families, staff and our local community to share an exciting exhibition 'Nature Near Me' 🐞
Pupils from TAHS and our partnership schools will be creating and exhibiting work to reflect their thoughts on nature in our local community.
Please help us celebrate the fabulous talent of our young people!
