Exploring smarter road repairs in Monmouthshire

This week, Monmouthshire County Council continues to trial road repair systems designed to help tackle potholes and surface damage more efficiently.

The technology being tested focuses on quicker, more targeted repairs, helping to reduce disruption for residents while supporting a more sustainable approach to maintaining our roads.

We’re always looking for new ways to improve our highways and deliver the best value for our communities. Trials like this play an important role in shaping future investment decisions.

Stay tuned as we gather feedback and assess how these new methods could support our ongoing work across the county.

UPDATE:
Further information around Trials:
The council is exploring new systems to improve how we repair potholes and maintain our roads.

The systems being trialled may look different from our current way of working, but this process will help the council ensure any changes are well suited to both the rural and urban areas of Monmouthshire.

These trials aim to support quicker, more targeted repairs, reducing disruption for residents and road users while making the best use of council resources.

Community Cohesion Fund – Grants of up to £2,000

Do you have an idea for an event or activity that brings people together locally? We’re inviting community groups and voluntary sector organisations to apply for up to £2,000 to help build welcoming, connected and resilient communities.

We’re looking to fund projects that:
• bring residents together across different backgrounds and communities
• create more chances to meet, chat and build positive relationships
Ideas could include activities that:
• help people feel included and part of the community
• reduce loneliness and social isolation
• create safe, welcoming spaces for people to meet and mix
• bring people together through shared interests, experiences or values
• help reduce tensions by challenging myths and stereotypes

How to apply
Email [email protected] for the application form.

Deadline: 23rd June 2026
If you’ve got an idea, we’d love to hear from you.
