*****CASTLE CLOSED******
This Sunday the castle is closed for a private photography event, we can’t wait to see the horses against the backdrop of the castle walls.

The castle is then closed to visitors for winter after this, as it’s a bit too chilly to wait on the gates for visitors, and we have a lot of maintenance work planned over the winter months.
However, if any groups would like to visit during our closed season please email [email protected] and if we can accommodate this we will.
Huge thanks to our enthusiastic and generous volunteers who have helped man the gates this year.

This should be really interesting. Both Nicola and Nathen have of course been excellent speakers at recent History Days

Announced on my newsletter this morning is a new show featuring the excellent Nicola Tallis and Kate Williams chatting all things royal palaces with Laurence Llywelyn Bowen. I came along for the ride. This is available to watch from tomorrow.

We are devastated to share the sad news that Rosie Humphreys, chatelaine of Usk Castle, died last evening. Although not unexpected, it still a huge shock to us all. I'm sure you will all join us in sending prayers and thoughts to Henry, Tom, Adam and Anna et al.

Don't forget our History Day. Henry VII. Saturday 22nd March, 10 am, at the Memorial Hall, Usk.
We have two speakers, the wonderful Nathen Amin who will be talking about his recent book, Henry Son of Prophecy. We very much enjoyed Dr Amin's earlier talk.
David Collard will talk about Henry's reign illustrating it with excerpts from his play about Henry :Henry VII a Play after William Shakespeare.
Entry will be £5 for members, £7.50 for non-members, to include coffee or tea and biscuits. There will be the usual (voluntary!) guided tour of the Castle at 2.30pm.Don't forget.
