Please bear with us.

Uplyme Parish Council currently has a temporary gap in the Clerk role, which means responses to emails and enquiries may take a little longer than usual. We’re working to put interim arrangements in place and appreciate your patience and understanding while we do so.

Join Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service's next online Community Conversation event on Friday 12 June at 12 noon about outdoor fire safety this summer. Full information and how to join is available on their website.

They'll be sharing the insight and ideas behind their upcoming campaign, which focuses on reducing preventable garden fires linked to BBQs, fire pits and outdoor burning.

This session is an opportunity for residents, community groups, local organisations and partners to come together to discuss summer fire risks, share experiences and behaviours commonly seen during warmer weather, and help shape how DSFRS communicate safety messages across Devon and Somerset.

Most summer fires don't start with danger - they start with distraction. Explore how we can encourage simple, realistic behaviour changes that help people stay safe while still enjoying summer outdoors.

DSFRS welcome your thoughts, feedback and ideas as part of the conversation. To find out more, visit the website below:

Message from East Devon DC's engagement team:

The updated plans for the proposed Cranbrook Leisure and Wellbeing Centre are now available to view Cranbrook Leisure updated designs, giving people another opportunity to see the changes and share their views before a planning application is submitted. Find out how feedback from the recent survey has helped shape the updated proposals. The deadline for comments is the 18 of June at 5pm.

Over the last 12 months, East Devon District Council has been working with project managers and designers to develop proposals for a new leisure and wellbeing centre in Cranbrook town centre. The original survey received 979 contributions and showed strong public support for the new centre, with most respondents saying they were likely to use it once open. The strongest demand was for a 25-metre swimming pool, gym and fitness suite, café and social spaces, and exercise studios.

People also said they wanted the building to feel bright, welcoming and easy to navigate.

Since the first survey, the design has been developed, giving people the chance to view the latest proposals and to see how feedback on features such as the 25-metre pool, sports hall provision and other design elements has been taken into account before a planning application is submitted.

We’re so grateful to the 1st Lym Valley Scouts for building these brilliant bird boxes. The video captures a lovely moment: a devoted parent bird keeping watch over its young in their new, safe space. A perfect reminder of how small acts of care can make a big difference.

🌿 Calling all green‑fingered residents! 🌿

Stafford Mount is one of our loveliest village greenspaces, and we’re putting together a small volunteer rota to help keep it tidy, cared for, and welcoming. If you enjoy being outdoors, don’t mind a bit of light gardening, and want to make a real difference to a space everyone enjoys, we’d love to have you on the team. Even an hour now and then helps this special spot thrive.

If you’d like to join the rota or find out more, just drop us a message. Let’s keep Stafford Mount blooming together. 🌱

Community Survey: Energy and Fuel Crisis

As the Rural Community Council for Devon, we are fully aware about how difficult the current climate is, in particular with energy and fuel costs, for our rural and coastal communities across the county.

In order to try and support you further, we would like to gather feedback from communities, individuals and organisations across Devon to hear 'on the ground' impact you are experiencing from the current fuel/energy crisis. Your experiences will be extremely useful for us to gauge the outlook across the county and whether there is an opportunity for further support or showcasing success.

You can complete this survey anonymously, or if you are happy for us to contact you for further information, please provide your contact details at the end of the form.
