Beyond the houses and gardens , your support means we are able to care for some of Herefordshire’s most special countryside, maintaining habitats for nature and preserving ancient history.

From Iron Age hillforts at Midsummer Hill and Eaton Camp to the ancient woodland of Poors Acre and the orchards and spring at Breinton, these landscapes are rich in wildlife, history and quiet beauty.

Every visit you make to Berrington Hall, Brockhampton, Croft Castle and The Weir Garden helps to raise funds to support the care of these vital habitats. Thank you.

Access and parking availability varies, so if you wanted to explore any of these sites please do research the locations before you visit.

It's Volunteers Week and it's a very big thank you from National Trust in Herefordshire to every one of the volunteers who use their knowledge, enthusiasm and creativity to bring our places to life.

Here's a small snapshot of volunteers in action. They really are brilliant. Thank you.

Volunteers Week runs from Monday 1 to Sunday 7 June. It's an annual celebration to recognise the importance of the contribution volunteers make for so many good causes.

We can’t promise you’ll spot a barn owl, but a priority habitat tour with our rangers at The Weir Garden will help you discover where the nature you would love to spot might be hiding.

Explore over 65 hectares of newly created habitats and find out how meadows, orchards and woodland are being brought to life for wildlife.

Led by the rangers who helped plant it all (with an amazing team of volunteers), these relaxed walks tell the story of nature and new discoveries.

Tours are monthly. The next one is 11am until 12pm on Friday 5 June. Just let the visitor welcome team know you're there for the tour.

Tours are included with normal admission.

- Stick to clearly defined paths and avoid long grass
- Wear long trousers
- Use insect repellent
- Regularly check for ticks

These are just some of the ways you can keep yourself safe from the effects of ticks while enjoying the outdoors.

If you spot a tick, they should be carefully removed using tick removal tool or fine tipped tweezers to remove it, as soon as possible.

Ticks are tiny spider-like creatures that attach themselves to animals and sometimes people to feed.
If you’ve been bitten or have recently spent time outdoors and develop an unusual rash or start to feel unwell, contact your GP.

We're sharing this advice as some tick bites may result in an infection called Lyme Disease. Learn more at the Lyme Resource Centre here: https://brnw.ch/21x143P

Overheard at Brockhampton - 'You could imagine David Attenborough making a series here'.

You really could. Nature spotting never disappoints at Brockhampton.
