"His eyes would light up."

That's how Matt describes the moments he shared with Andy through Live More with Shared Lives.

Matt is a Shared Lives carer with Shared Lives Oldham. During his time supporting Andy, they visited transport museums, explored parks and spent time enjoying places linked to Andy's lifelong interests.

For Matt, it showed how important it is to start with the person, their interests and the things that matter to them.

✨ Did you know Shared Lives offers three different types of support? ✨

🏡 Day Support
Support is agreed between the person being supported and their Shared Lives Carer. This could be as simple as popping round for a ☕ cuppa, getting support to attend an appointment 📅, or accessing activities in the local community 🌳.

🌟 Respite Support
Respite provides a short stay in a Shared Lives Carer's home for an agreed period of time. During their stay, the person being supported may choose to relax 🛋️, enjoy new experiences, or access their community with support 🚶‍♀️🎨.

❤️ Long-Term Placements
A long-term placement is where a person lives with their Shared Lives Carer on an ongoing basis, becoming part of a supportive family environment. This can help people achieve greater independence and stability, including those transitioning from foster care to adult services 🌱🏠.

Shared Lives is all about creating meaningful relationships, promoting independence, and helping people live the life they choose. 💙

What an amazing time we had at Hawkshead Show yesterday! ☀️

It was fantastic chatting with so many people about Shared Lives and Homeshare Westmorland and Furness , sharing information and answering questions about the support we provide.

There really was something for everyone, and we were absolutely amazed by the incredible tricks and stunts the BMX riders were performing! 🚴‍♂️✨
