Uley Jubilee Playground Platinum Makeover

Uley Jubilee Playground Platinum Makeover Uley Parish Council, with a small group of volunteers, is planning an exciting project to improve our children’s playground located off Raglan Way.

WE DID IT - ULEY PLAYGROUND HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY RENOVATED AND IS NOW OPEN!! We have a small car park adjacent to the park or street parking on Raglan Way. The renovation: During the past 18 months we have all realised how important open spaces are to our well-being; particularly for our children and young people. We have been working together with local play area consultants to come up with idea

s to make the playground an inviting and interesting place to spend time in the fresh air and appeal to children, parents, grandparents and carers. The playground was originally created by volunteers and dedicated to the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. It was officially opened in May 1978 by HRH Princess Anne. Some refurbishment work was undertaken in 2002, at the time of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. We believe it would now be especially appropriate if we could achieve a major makeover of the playground to celebrate our Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June 2022! The Uley Jubilee Playground is an asset of Uley Parish Council which pays for inspection, maintenance and repairs out of its annual budget. However, the PC does not hold capital sums to fund projects such as this. The capital cost must therefore be raised by the project group from other sources. All monies raised will be handled through the PC’s bank account, ensuring complete transparency and the upgraded asset will remain the property of your Parish Council.

We've had some really positive feedback so far about the Uley Lantern Festival. We are so pleased that we are able to provide the festival, the entertainment and the workshops for FREE! All proceeds from this year's event will go towards future events.
We're nearly there with preparations but we just need a little more help from the community to fundraise towards making this an extra special and safe family occasion.
We are really grateful for any donation you are able to offer using the Crowdfunder link below or via the money pot at Uley shop.

Look out for more updates soon and many thanks for your support.

The Uley Event Group

We are excited to confirm Uley’s very first Lantern Festival on Saturday 29th Oct. We need a bit more money to make it special.

Please can I remind users of the playground to ensure the sand pit cover is put back at the end of the day or if no one else is using it. If you know that your children are at the playground independently please check that they have replaced the cover. This is to reduce the risk of animals using it overnight. Unfortunately there will always be this potential health risk and whilst we do our best to check and clean the sand pit regularly we can’t eliminate it altogether. Therefore the use of the sand pit is at your own risk and we kindly ask you to support us in keeping it as clean and safe as possible.

The Uley Playground Grand Opening

On behalf of Uley Parish Council the steering group would like to thank all of our sponsors, donors, construction team and many helpers who made the playground renovation possible and to our special guest, Wendy Thomas who unveiled the commemorative plaque and supported the scheme through Gloucestershire County Council's Build Back Better Scheme. It was a wonderful day with over a hundred people in attendance.

We hope you enjoy and look after our wonderful new facility.

Thank you!
