NEW ROLE: KITCHEN VOLUNTEER

Age UK East Sussex is an independent local charity supporting older people across East Sussex for over 75 years, providing services, activities, advice, and community spaces to help make the county a great place to grow older.

They now seek a Kitchen Volunteer for the Lewes House of Friendship.

Currently they are recruiting for 1 day a week, on a Monday from 11.00am to 2.00pm. It’s really easy to start the process. If you’re over 18 years old, please apply now.

COMMUNITY CAR DRIVERS SOUGHT

MAYFACS supports the community of Mayfield and Five Ashes with a clear objective to help alleviate loneliness and isolation.

They now seek more people to join their wonderful group of volunteer community car drivers.

Would you like to help local people get to their medical appointments (Doctors, Dentist, Opticians, Hospital etc) if they are unable to take public transport or drive themselves?

Volunteering in this way is really flexible. You can choose dates, times and locations that suit you and fit around your other commitments.

DRIVER COORDINATOR NEEDED

Uckfield Area Care Drivers provide a vital free service to the elderly in getting them to doctor and hospital appointments. Under previous names, the charity has been operating for over 25 years.

Hospitals covered are Haywards Heath, Brighton, Eastbourne, Pembury, East Grinstead, along with local GP surgeries.

They now seek a Driver Coordinator.

NEW MINIBUS DRIVER ROLE

MAYFACS supports the community of Mayfield and Five Ashes with a clear objective to help alleviate loneliness and isolation. They now seek Minibus Driver.

As a volunteer you choose the dates that you can be available to drive.

Currently they run the following:

- Lunch Club on the 1st Tuesday of the month, where you have your lunch provided;
- Friday Films (one per month) where you can stay to watch the film and have interval refreshments;
- Monthly trips usually taking place on a Thursday, departing from Mayfield between 9-10am and returning around 4pm.

Today we put the spotlight on the Bluebell Railway.

The Bluebell Railway is our local heritage railway, running between Sheffield Park and East Grinstead.

Opened in 1960, as the world’s first preserved standard-gauge passenger railway, it operates historic steam and diesel trains through the picturesque Sussex countryside. Visitors can enjoy vintage stations, special events, nostalgic train journeys, plus so much more including the Bluebell Railway Museum, and SteamWorks! which introduces visitors to the marvels of steam power.
