🚧 Reminder: A30 road safety improvement works start next week

From 5 September 2026 to March 2027, we'll be carrying out safety improvements on the A30 between Kennards House and Five Lanes.

⚠️ What to expect:
✅ Full overnight closures of the A30 from 5 to 10 September (9pm to 6am)
✅ One lane open in each direction from 7 September
✅ 50mph speed limit in place
✅ Traffic lights and some junction closures
✅ Free recovery service available 24/7

Delays are expected, particularly on Fridays and weekends, so please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey.

A signed diversion route will be in place during overnight closures.

In wet weather, it takes at least twice as long to stop as it does on a dry road. This is because your tyres have less grip on the road in wet weather.

The recommended two-second rule in dry conditions should be doubled to at least four seconds when driving in wet conditions.

Slow down and increase the distance between you and the vehicle ahead. Giving yourself extra space allows more time to react and reduces the risk of a collision - stay safe and don’t become another statistic.

Not everyone has easy access to a regular bus route, but if you do, maybe consider switching out one or two of your regular journeys to public transport.

1st September marks the start of Catch the Bus Month 2026!

Transport for Cornwall has once again joined this exciting initiative that is organised by Bus Users UK, to celebrate the power of buses and drive change in transport.

Throughout September, we will be sharing information across the Transport for Cornwall website and page as well as Real Time Information screens on the events and competitions that will be running, as well as some Myth-BUSting facts for everyone!

We look forward to seeing some of you whilst out and about on the buses in Cornwall!

Thunderstorms, heavy rain and localised flooding are possible across Cornwall overnight and into Thursday morning.

If you’re travelling, take extra care, allow more time for your journey and be prepared for difficult driving conditions.

If you live in an area at risk of flooding, keep an eye on local conditions and make sure you’re prepared. Never drive or walk through floodwater.

A temporary hosepipe ban is being introduced for Cornwall to help protect water supplies during the current drought conditions.

The ban will come into effect at 00:01am on Saturday 8th August
