Chef Thomas Hine and his family team were eager to make sure they were meeting the highest hygiene standards at new venture PL28 Café - using our Gain or Retain 5 mock inspection service to put their processes to the test... 👀

We're delighted to share the team passed with flying colours at their first inspection - with their care and attention to safety processes resulting in the top hygiene rating! ❤

📍 You'll find PL28 Café on Broad Street, where they serve breakfast, lunch specials and an evening menu full of local produce, such as their Monday steak night, with cuts from local suppliers Philip Warren Butchers ! 🥩

Have you heard of the adventure playground in Cornwall that also serves food ? 🛝🏃

Run by dedicated volunteers, Gwealan Tops is a charity providing an adventure playground in Redruth where children can play in ways that they often can’t elsewhere. It is also supervised all year round with skilled playworkers for peace of mind ❤

The kitchen was completely refurbished in the last 2 years and is used weekly to provide food for those using the playground and for school holiday activities. You can even hire out the kitchen for events and functions! 👩‍🍳

Beyond this, the team regularly provides free meals, offering vital support to local people in the wider community. (And if you're curious... on the menu this week is cottage pie!) ❤🎉

When it comes to sushi, maintaining top hygiene standards is no easy task - but this team are doing just that! 🍜

We're delighted to share that the team at YO! Sushi in Pool’s Tesco Extra have achieved a 5‑star food hygiene rating! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🎉

And it’s not just sushi on the menu - the team also serve authentic Japanese ramen, katsu and teriyaki, to name just a few dishes! 🍱🥢

Now that's a transformation! ✨ Have you seen this café's makeover? 👀☕

The Cloverleaf Café at Chacewater Garden Centre has had a major refurb, including a brand-new extension meaning the café can now welcome up to 120 guests at a time! 🎉

They’ve even created a dedicated dog-friendly seating area - The Dog House - where four-legged visitors can enjoy treats from their very own menu, including a puppucino and 'iced woofin'! 🐶

But it's not just the café that's had some attention - the team have also been working hard behind the scenes on their food hygiene standards and were delighted to be awarded the top food hygiene rating following our inspection this month 👏❤️

The exciting changes don't stop there either, with plans for an outdoor café area this summer too - watch this space! ☀️

Does this café have the funniest signs in Cornwall? 😆

Alongside serving up smiles with their rather colourful collection of signs... this café also dishes up a creative menu prepared to impressive food hygiene standards - so much so that our inspecting Officer Brian described it as:

“a little beacon of excellence” following their inspection this month 🏆

So who are we talking about??

It’s The Little Cornish Cake Hole at the Pool Innovation Centre! Where owners Lisa and Damian have deservedly retained their 5-star food hygiene rating 🎉❤️

Since opening in early 2022, the café has been a hit with businesses based at the centre, offering teas & coffees, sandwiches, salads and event catering, as well as inventive sweet treats and lunch specials.

Well done to Lisa and Damian pictured here, who now have another (albeit slightly less humorous!) - sign to put up: their new 5-star rating! 👏👏
