Truro BID

Truro BID Information on Truro BID's activities & businesses matters for those working in Truro City Centre. We first became operational in October 2007.

Truro Business Improvement District (BID) is a business led initiative which gives businesses the power to raise funds locally to be spent locally on improving a defined commercial area. Truro BID represents circa 380 Truro businesses and from 2007 to 2017 invested £3.4million into the City centre. We’re now in our fourth 5 year term, which runs until October 2027. We are independent from local au

thorities and other statutory agencies and deliver projects over and above the baseline service provided by them. Some of our work includes:

∙ Delivering and funding Truro’s annual City Centre Christmas Lights scheme (along with past donations from Lionel and Carol Knight).

∙ Enhancing the festive offer with street entertainment, large scale projections on buildings, traffic-free main shopping streets, markets, and supporting Coppice Theatre shows and Father Christmas grottos.

∙ Delivering the Truro Trend high-profile Catwalk at the Cathedral.

∙ Initiating and supporting one day markets; e.g. the Duchy Fair’s Cornwall Shop Small Markets and Truro Antiques and Collectables Markets.

∙ Joint-funding with Truro City Council the annual floral hanging baskets each spring.

∙ Working with Visit Truro to promote the city, including contributing financially to printed marketing activity (Truro Guides) and Visit Truro’s website.

∙ Representing the interests of businesses on plans for the Pydar Regeneration and Truro Town Fund investment plan.

𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻'𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆!

Families can enjoy a packed programme of activities and entertainment in Truro City Centre for Children’s Day in two weeks on Saturday 20 June.

We have brought together around 30 local businesses and organisations to take part. In additon, more than 30 shops and eateries will be joining in with family-friendly in-store activities and special offers.

On Lemon Quay there will be plenty of free entertainment and activities including the return of spectacular mountain bike stunt shows.

Children can enjoy a free bicycle obstacle course (bikes and helmets provided) and learn to ride a bike in a designated area. Older children can try out the manual bike machine for off-roading practice. New for this year, is the ‘Doctor Bike’ area, where kids can bring their bikes for repair.

There will be free have-a-go sessions in circus skills, dance and a boxing demo, along with dance performances.

Lemon Quay will host stalls featuring art and craft activities, and games for families, along with crazy golf and an inflatable slide.

Other family activities will be taking place across the city, including in Pydar St. A large inflatable obstacle course is planned for Boscawen St, alongside the regular Truro Farmers Market traders who are relocating to Boscawen Street for the day.

Street entertainment, including circus performers and live music, will be popping up across the city.

Many of Truro’s shops and eateries will have family friendly in-store activities and offers, including art activities, offers, competitions, and meal deals.

Children’s Day is brought to the city by Truro BID and sponsored by Coodes Solicitors.

The main program runs from 10am until 4pm on Saturday 20 June.

Many activities are free, although some activities such as the crazy golf, the inflatables and swing boats, will charge a fee.

For more information see www.visittruro.org.uk and our media release: https://www.trurobid.co.uk/press-coverage/childrensday2026

The full line up and info about the in-store activities and offers across Truro will be published on www.visittruro.org.uk a few days prior to the event.

Truro Volunteers Day returns this year on Sunday 28 June, from 1pm until 5pm on Lemon Quay. The event will promote volunteering opportunities for those who are looking to give their time and energy to a suitable group that needs more hands.

Groups attending and looking for volunteers include the Police, Fire Service, St John’s Ambulance, Royal British Legion, various community groups, conservation-type groups, and animal charities. New for this year, there will be some live music from local choirs and local bands.

With 30 different groups set to participate it will be a good chance to find out about a variety of local volunteering opportunities in one place, on one day. If you are looking to volunteer (or know someone else who is) do go along and chat directly to the organisations and charities attending!

We are pleased to be supporting the Truro Volunteers Day by making a small financial donation. The event is also being supported by Truro City Council and Truro’s Cornwall Councillors.

We hope that Truro Volunteers Day goes well for those taking part. Truro Volunteers Day is free to attend. For any queries about the event email: [email protected]

𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽!

We hope that you have spotted the summer floral displays and hanging baskets which are brightening up the city, and which we joint fund with Truro City Council.

As always, the Parks Team at Truro City Council have done a brilliant job of planting and maintaining the wonderful floral displays. We look forward to seeing even more colour across the city, once the flowers fully bloom and all the baskets are up!

As previously communicated, we stopped using the DISC Crime Reporting Tool on 31 March and, following our work with UK Partners Against Crime (UKPAC), now use the SentrySIS digital platform.

UKPAC is a crime reduction cooperative that uses the SentrySIS digital platform as its core operating technology for crime reporting, intelligence sharing, and offender tracking.

The SentrySIS reporting tool is more aligned with the internal Police Crime Systems and therefore easier for the police to retrieve evidence. Hopefully, the result will be more prosecutions of high street crime.

Truro businesses, if you were registered and active on DISC, you should have received a welcome email from Sentrysis. Please activate this so that you can join. If you haven't recieved a welcome email from Sentrysis, please email Truro BID on [email protected].

For more information about UKPAC, see their website: https://uk-pac.com/
