🌿☀️ June at Penmount – Bursting into Summer! ☀️🌿

The recent sunshine and record-breaking May temperatures have brought an incredible burst of colour and growth across the gardens at Penmount. Our gardening team has been working tirelessly to keep everything looking beautiful as lawns, hedges, roses, and wildflowers thrive in the early summer conditions. 🌸🌱

Visitors will soon see stunning seasonal displays featuring canna lilies, geraniums, pot marigolds, and vibrant hanging baskets, all carefully nurtured in our busy nursery, which is currently home to over 3,000 growing plants! 🌺🌼

Our rose gardens are now beginning their first spectacular flush of blooms, filling the grounds with reds, oranges, yellows, pinks, and whites. Meanwhile, nature continues to flourish around us, with recent sightings of bats at dusk and deer roaming peacefully through the gardens. 🦇🦌

Despite the challenges of rapid growth and some machinery setbacks, the team continues to work incredibly hard to maintain the grounds to the highest standard. 🌿👏

Why not take a moment to visit, enjoy the peaceful surroundings, and experience Penmount in full summer bloom? 🌞💚

Please join us for our 70th Anniversary event on Sunday 28th June from 11am to celebrate Penmount Crematorium providing the people of Cornwall with a wonderful facility.
We have this year achieved a Gold standard rating from the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management for the service provided by Penmount.

Camborne Community Brass Band will be playing from 11am then we are pleased to welcome Will Keating to headline the event on the front lawn during the afternoon. Why not have a look behind the scenes, take a look at the Natural burial site or have a walk around the beautiful gardens. There will be lots more to do and see during the afternoon with a focus on the history of the Penmount site and our aims for increasing the biodiversity of the gardens. The event will conclude with a Service of Remembrance at 2.30pm for those who wish to attend.

We hope to see you on the day.

Nature Notes – May at Penmount Crematorium

May has brought a beautiful shift into early summer, with longer days, warmer weather, and a real burst of life across the grounds. Spring flowers are now fading, making way for fresh green growth, while roses are budding and herbaceous plants are filling out to create a more natural, full landscape.

Behind the scenes, around 2,000 summer bedding plants are thriving and will soon add vibrant colour across the site in June.

Wildlife has been especially active—listen out for the distinctive call of the green woodpecker, and keep an eye out for busy nesting birds, along with the ever-present deer and rabbits making their mark.

As the season continues to change, the grounds remain a peaceful yet lively place, full of growth, birdsong, and the quiet rhythms of nature.

Here at Penmount, where the ground rests quietly beneath our feet,
the bluebells return each spring—
bowing their heads, softly and without demand.

They remind us that love does not end,
that even in places of farewell,
life continues to bloom in gentle ways.

May their quiet beauty bring us comfort,
and may the love we remember today
remain with us, always.

April Nature Notes

Spring is truly in full flow across the peaceful gardens at Penmount Crematorium, and it’s a wonderful time to visit and enjoy a moment of quiet reflection.

As you walk through the grounds, you’ll notice the gardens filled with colour and new life. Magnolias, rhododendrons, pieris japonica and skimmias are bursting into bloom, while delicate forget‑me‑nots create a beautiful sea of blue across the lawn areas. Our rose collections are showing healthy new growth too, promising lovely displays in the months ahead 🌹

The gardens are also alive with wildlife. Birds such as woodpeckers, goldfinches, blue t**s and chaffinches can be seen busily gathering nesting material, adding gentle birdsong to the tranquil atmosphere. Nature really does bring a sense of comfort and continuity at this time of year.

Whether you’re remembering a loved one, enjoying some fresh air, or simply seeking a calm and reflective space, our gardens are always open and welcoming.
🌿 You are warmly invited to visit, pause, and enjoy the natural beauty and peace that Penmount Crematorium offers this spring. 🌿
