Trull Parish Council

Trull Parish Council Trull Parish Council, in the village of Trull, is in the local authority area of Somerset Council.

We are local residents and caretakers of the Parish, working to maintain our home for everyone to enjoy. The Parish Council exists to represent and assist the community living in the Parish of Trull. Although it has limited powers to make decisions, it does have the ability to negotiate with, and influence, other organisations that do make the final decisions such as other tiers of local government, health authorities, and the police.

Dear Community,

The Trull Ridge Green Wedge Appeal inquiry begins this coming Tuesday, 8th September.

Over the past two weeks, our team has been busy adapting our case to align with the newly released National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). In addition, just yesterday, Strongvox submitted a planning application to develop the Honiton Road side of the green wedge.

While their planning statement attempts to justify the scheme on its own merits rather than relying on the appeal, it will inevitably be heavily influenced by the Trull Ridge outcome.

Public objections remain vital. Please continue submitting your comments on the Somerset Planning Portal:

A huge thank you to everyone who has registered to speak in defence of the Ridge on Tuesday. Showing strong community presenceโ€”whether speaking or observingโ€”makes a substantial difference.

๐Ÿš˜Heads up, Trull residents: Taunton parking charges are set to rise.

Somerset Council is proposing a new tiered pricing structure alongside new Sunday parking charges, with Taunton hit the hardest.

๐“๐ก๐ž ๐Š๐ž๐ฒ ๐‚๐ก๐š๐ง๐ ๐ž๐ฌ:

Sunday Parking: Free Sunday parking is set to end.

๐Ÿ‘‰Tier 1 Car Parks (Canon St, Coal Orchard, The Crescent, Whirligig, County Hall): Short stays jump by up to 46%. 1 hour goes from ยฃ1.30 to ยฃ1.90, and 2 hours from ยฃ2.60 to ยฃ3.80.

๐Ÿ‘‰Tier 2 Car Parks (High St, Orchard Multi-Storey, Tangier, Castle St, etc.): Modest increases for short stays (1 hour rises to ยฃ1.50), though 4-hour and all-day rates actually see a slight decrease.

๐Ÿ‘‰No More 3-Hour Ticket: The popular 3-hour option is being removed entirely across both tiers.

While the price hikes are frustrating, our local Taunton independent shops and businesses still need our support more than ever. Living in Trull gives us a few great ways to beat the charges:

๐ŸšŒHop on the Bus: Catching the bus drops you right in the centre.

๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธWalk or Cycle: Itโ€™s a straightforward 20โ€“30 minute walk or a quick cycle straight into town.

โณMake Quick Trips Count: If driving is essential, group errands together, head for Tier 2 car parks over Tier 1, or support our village amenities right here in Trull first.

Letโ€™s keep supporting town without letting council parking fees eat into our pockets.

Dear All

We have been notified of an application to build 75 houses on the top half of the Green Wedge, along the Honiton Road. This was expected in light of the appeal to build on the bottom part of the Green Wedge.

Both applications need to be treated separately. We don't expect an outcome for our Green Wedge legal case for a few months. In the meantime, please register your comments with regard to this most recent application on the Planning Portal.

Application number: 42/26/0028

Remember that comments on social media don't count.

Our team, (aka, Steve), has been out clearing footpaths, and the catchily named Path 21/35 along the side of Trull Tennis club is now accessible again. However, it could do with some footfall to keep it clear, should any of you want to add a new path to your walks....
