Our Dog Wardens are currently dealing with a very high number of reports and are extremely busy. As a result, there may be delays in responding to stray dog calls and collections.

If you have found a stray dog and are able to safely keep hold of it, we would be grateful if you could do so until a Dog Warden is available. Please be aware that collection is unlikely to take place today.

✅ Alternatively, you can take the dog to your nearest veterinary practice where they can check for a microchip and attempt to contact the owner.

🐾 6 Days to Go - Walk Earlier, Stay Safer

🎇 Many fireworks are let off before Bonfire Night itself, often without warning.

To help keep your dog safe:

✔ Walk dogs during daylight hours where possible ✔ Keep dogs on a lead if you're in an area where fireworks may be expected ✔ Avoid open spaces where displays are likely to take place ✔ Bring dogs indoors before dark

A frightened dog can run much faster than you think. Prevention is always better than searching for a lost pet.

🐾 Please Don't Abandon Your Dog 🐾

We understand that circumstances can change and caring for a dog can sometimes become difficult. However, abandoning a dog is never the answer.

Our stray dog kennels are currently at full capacity, and abandoned dogs can suffer injury, illness, hunger, stress and exploitation when left to fend for themselves.

If you're struggling to care for your dog, please consider these alternatives:

✅ Speak to family or friends who may be able to help
✅ Contact local rescue and rehoming organisations for advice and support
✅ Seek help from your vet if behavioural or health issues are becoming unmanageable
✅ Explore reputable rehoming services that can help find a suitable new home

❌ Do not leave dogs tied up in public places
❌ Do not release dogs into the countryside or on the streets
❌ Do not assume someone else will take responsibility

Abandoning a dog is not only distressing for the animal, it can also be an offence.

🐶 Every dog deserves a safe and responsible future. If you can no longer care for your dog, please seek help before making a decision you'll regret.
