Last night at about 23:15, after we got back from the Major Incident in St Albans, a crew was mobilised to a fire in the open at Tring Park.

On arrival, crews struggled to locate the fire, which delayed putting it out.
During this dry weather, if you see or smell smoke, or see fire at all, please dial 999 and ask for the Fire Brigade. We won’t be annoyed — we want these fires to stop spreading and to preserve and protect life, wildlife and property. The sooner you call us, the better.
In woods or meadows, we suggest having the What3Words app so you can give us an even more accurate location.

Unfortunately, on arrival we also found a lot of empty food boxes, cans and rubbish right by the tree which was alight. It’s really disappointing to see rubbish being left behind in our parks😔 Please remember that these spaces are for everyone to enjoy, and leaving your rubbish behind spoils them for others please use bins or take it with you.

This area has now been cleaned up as best as possible by our crew and the fire was extinguished.

Please do not deliberately light fires in woodland, grassland or open countryside. In these dry conditions, what may start as a small fire can very quickly become uncontrollable, spread through vegetation and put people, wildlife, homes and other property at serious risk. It can also place firefighters and other emergency crews in danger while they work to contain it.

Even a fire that appears to be safely contained can spread unexpectedly, particularly with dry vegetation and changing winds. Please help us keep our countryside safe — never deliberately start a fire in these conditions, and report any fire you see immediately by calling 999.

Yesterday afternoon Tring’s CSU Lite (Command Support Unit Lite) was mobilised to relieve the Hertford Crew from Command Support Duties at the fire at a large industrial unit in Ventura Park, Colney Street, St Albans.

The fire has been successfully contained within the unit, but crews expect to remain on scene for several hours.🚒

⚠️ Please keep doors and windows closed if you live nearby and avoid the area to allow emergency services to work safely.

One of our newest crew members from Tring Fire Station was mobilised with our colleagues from Berkhamsted Fire Station & Ware Fire Station to help assist with the Wildfires in Suffolk.

The Dunwich Heath wildfire remains a live incident, with around 100 firefighters and support staff still working at the scene.

Crews are trying to prevent flare-ups and reignition as they continue to tackle the blaze.

Amazing effort by all crews & brigades who have attended this incident👏🏼 💪🏼

On Saturday 11 April we will be carrying out large-scale training exercises within Telford Court, St Albans. These exercises are an essential part of ensuring our firefighters remain fully prepared to respond effectively to emergencies and to continue keeping our community safe.
You may notice an increased presence of fire service vehicles and personnel, as well as simulated emergency activity which includes the use of synthetic training smoke. Please be assured that this smoke is completely safe, controlled and used solely for training purposes. There is no cause for concern during this time.
