Many people have recently had a lot of concerns about Cornwall Council‘s proposed w**d treatment around the Duchy.

Cornwall Council have written a letter to all Town and Parish councils explaining their plans going forward, which we are sharing here so that everyone can see the latest situation.

Please do continue to express your views to the Parish Council and your Cornwall Councillor, Julian German.

Thanks

The Parish Council is aware of the unfortunate graffiti that has appeared on the skate park last week. We have a planned cleaning activity for this but will need to close the park for 24 hours after this has happened.

We would ask kindly if people could not try and remove the graffiti themselves. Although we massively appreciate people’s attempts and understand why, we have obtained special chemicals that should do this without damaging the surface.

We will let everyone know in advance of when this will happen, hopefully in the next few days.

Latest power cut logged with National Grid now.

26/03/2026

After a second day of disruption to electricity supply in the area, the council wrote to Jayne Kirkham MP’s office and they contacted National Grid for information.

The following response was received. As more information becomes available, this will be shared…

“Dear Jayne,

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I apologise for the ongoing outage in Tregony. For the current incident, originally ~1300 homes were affected when it was reported to us at 9.45 this morning. We disconnected an additional ~300 to make the network safe for our teams to investigate and repair.

Our teams are already working to restore power as fast as they can. We’ve so far restored ~1300 of the ~1600 that were without power. We expect that number to come down shortly as we are rerouting power supplies via other parts of the network while our teams fix the faults. We estimate that it should be back on by 3pm today. You can follow live update for the incident here.

In relation to your concerns about the supply for telecoms masts, that would be a matter for the relevant telelcoms company. All infrastructure/public service providers are responsible for their own continuity of service and contingency plans – ie water companies have generators at treatment works and pumping stations in case the power supply is interrupted. The same applies to telecoms providers too. For our part, we would advise a telecoms company of any pre-planned outages so they can act accordingly. But interruptions to their services caused by unplanned power outages are best directed to them as we cannot comment on the resilience procedures.

I will get back to you with more information regarding the historical issues you raise and steps we are taking to improve the network in the area. But in the first instance, I thought it best to provide an update about the ongoing issue.

Best wishes,

Jacob

Tregony Almshouses - Vacancies for new trustees

Hugh Boscawen’s Charity owns and administers the almshouses in Tregony, as it has
done for over 300 years. The charity has vacancies for up to two new trustees.

The charity has a part-time paid clerk who carries out the routine administration and
dealing with day-to-day matters.

The role of trustee is voluntary and involves attending a small number of meetings each
year (3-6) and responding and contributing to issues at various times between
meetings, usually by email or by phone.

Expressions of interest in filling the vacancies are invited from anyone resident in or
close to Tregony.
Please respond by 28 February by email to the clerk, Bob Egerton,
[email protected].

If you do apply, please include a few words about yourself and your interest in the position. Trustees will meet in March/April to consider who should be co-opted to fill the vacancies.

If you would like an informal chat before deciding whether you wish to pursue this,
please call Bob at any reasonable time on 07785 748844.

Thanks all for coming to the launch of the Tregony Wheeled Sports Park yesterday, despite the weather, it was a great turn out and a fun day!

Everyone seemed to enjoy the visit from Cornish skating legend, Lola Tambling, who loved the park and signed autographs and took photos with so many people.

Some words of thanks to councillors past and present who were so involved in helping get this off the ground, including (bot not only!) Mark Greet, Mark Lytham, Esther Gray, Graham Laity, Joy Floyd-Norris, Stewart Matthews, Kevin Ashley, our clerk Mary Symons. Thanks also to Pierran Bishop for running the survey that started all of this during Covid times. Thanks also to Cornwall Councillor Julian German for his unwavering support and to Cornwall Council’s Shared Prosperity Fund for largely paying for the park, we are glad you love it.

It’s great to see so many young people getting so much enjoyment out of the park and it sitting so well alongside other valued community facilities. With a lifespan of 25 years or more, we’re sure it will be that way for a long time to come.

Good evening all

We have received word this week that Footpath One, known as Mucky Lane, which runs behind The Park from the bottom of Back Lane, will be closed until March 2026 in order to repair the damage that occurred in the recent storms.

Recently, it appears that some people on Scramble bikes might have ridden down the lane and we would ask that all users, including pedestrians and dog walkers refrain from using the lane until repairs have been carried out.

Thank you.
