Tredegar Town Council invests in their local community, helping Smart Money Cymru Community Bank to provide more fair and affordable loans.

For many, managing the extra costs that come with the festive season can be overwhelming, especially for those already faced with tight budgets. Most recently, Councillors approved the opening of a Community Investment account at Smart Money Cymru. Funds deposited into these accounts are used to provide access to affordable, safe loan options for its constituents. The Town Council can be sure that by depositing with Smart Money Cymru, its money is being put to good use, particularly at this busy time of year.

CLIMB THE TOWN CLOCK

Tredegar Town Council, in support of the Open Doors Event.

Opening of the Tredegar Town Clock, The Circle, Tredegar, NP22 3PS
On Saturday, 6 September 2025 from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon.

Come along and climb inside the Clock from the base to the top. The climb will be over three sets of steel ladders therefore suitable footwear and general good health is advisable - no flip flops or loose fitting shoes.

A certificate will be presented to all that climb.

Tredegar Town Council are pleased to be able to announce that the clock is now operational, but there are a couple of electrical problems that still need to be sorted in respect of the flood and the four corner post lights.

Thank you for your patience and will endeavour to keep the time and the hourly chimes going for infinity until corrected.

Information from Tredegar Town Council on why Tredegar Town Clock is not working.

Post from Tredegar Town Council:

The Town clock, as some of you may have noticed, is currently not operational. The electrics that operate the lights and maintain the clock movement are at fault.
We have had an initial inspection that indicated that we need to replace the electrical system and whilst this took place we tried, in vain to restart the clock independently of the rest of the electrical system.
We have, also called in the clock contract maintenance team to inspect the clock movement as well as the electrical company to do any maintenance required at this time.
We will endeavour to have a fully function Town Clock working as soon as possible.
