Kingsbridge RFC will now be able to reach even more people thanks to their larger clubhouse 🏉

We've been delighted to provide ÂŁ75,000 of Section 106 funding to go towards an extension of the clubhouse that has created new changing rooms and increased the function room space.

The Rugby Football Union (RFU) has also provided the club with ÂŁ200,000 towards the project through a grant and loan. As well as the support from the council and the RFU, the rugby club did its own fundraising to complete the project.

Refurbishing our public loos in Fore Street, Kingbridge - done âś…

We've completed the next phase of a project to improve our public toilets across the South Hams - by completing the refurbishment of the loos on Fore Street in Kingsbridge.

The toilet refurbishment works are part of our wider commitment to invest in our communities. Earlier this year, the council finished the first phase to improve its toilets in Totnes.

Today’s government announcement that the Government is to review local government reorganisation plans in Devon is being welcomed by the Leader of the Council.

Cllr Dan Thomas said: “I'm pleased that Government has listened. I wrote to MHCLG urging them to reconsider the decision and to arrange an urgent meeting with Devon’s political leaders to discuss the implications for our residents, businesses and communities.

“We recognise the Government’s plans to simplify local government and supports ambitions for devolution. However, the decision to expand the boundaries of Plymouth, Exeter and Torbay to form new unitaries, while placing the remainder of the county into a vast Devon Council, has caused deep disappointment and serious concern across our rural towns, villages and coastal communities.

“South Hams District Council believes there were stronger and more coherent alternatives available which were preferred by the majority of respondents to the consultations.

“This review offers an opportunity to make sure that any future changes are in the best interests of everyone in the South Hams and the rest of Devon.”
