We’ve got out next Breaking Bread Feast tomorrow lunchtime! Sima (The Kitchen Table) and the team will be serving up a Greek 🇬🇷 inspired menu: slow cooked lamb or a butterbean and veg stew, served with a potato and green bean salad with a lemony, mint and olive oil dressing. And of course there will be lots of fresh homemade bread… delish! 🥖

Today the United Response in Devon guys were in the garden harvesting broad beans and marris peer new potatoes for tomorrow’s salad. It was an especially exciting moment as it was the first potato harvest of the season, and these particular spuds were planted back at the beginning of March by a visiting school group from South Devon Steiner School

If you fancy coming along to tomorrow’s event you can email your interest at [email protected], or find out more via the link in our bio. See you there! 🍞

Spring was very welcome this year a particularly wet & wooly winter 🌧️!! Before we knew it we were busy with lambing, lit fest, planting out seedlings, making elderflower cordial and welcoming an abundance of new life to the farm (kittens, ducklings, chicks, calves, and lambs to name but a few!).

Here’s a roundup of some of this season’s highlights:

1. Happy gardeners 👨‍🌾
2. Acrobatic lambs 🐑
3. Quail eggs 🪺
4. First strawberry of the year! 🍓
5. Kittens!! 😍
6. Plant sale 🪴
7. Lots of bums on seats (or rather bales) at the lit fest
8. Ducklings 🐥
9. Office staff getting distracted 🐤
10. Elderflowers everywhere! 🌼
11. Trainees learning how to build fencing
12. Garden sessions 🌱
13. Chicks 🐣
14. Tentacled Lagoon Worm learnings 🪱
15. Beautiful apple blossom 🌸
16. Oooh the joy of warm days in the garden! 🌞
17. Curious new friends 🐑
18. Lit fest flower arranging 🌺
19. Pollinators abound 🐝
20. Ox-eye daises are flourishing 🌻

Our herd of belties are much loved members of our farm community! 🐄

With their iconic ‘belt’ and thick, weatherproof coats, Belted Galloways are hardy cattle and natural conservation grazers. Their unselective grazing helps restore habitats, creating space for wildflowers and boosting biodiversity across our land. 🌼

Our herd are also steady and easy to handle, which makes them perfect for our educational work. We share our site with partners United Response, a charity supporting adults with learning disabilities, and time spent with the herd is always a highlight for the guys there (especially on cattle-herding days!). 🐮

A couple of years ago a few of our Belties set off to join Derek Gow at his rewilding site in West Devon Rewilding Coombeshead, and we like to think they’re continuing their good work in new landscapes 🌱

📸: Thank you Mike and Shirley for the photos!

To mark 2026, Sharpham Trust volunteer Hugh shares his story about how joining our Citizen Science volunteering group (facilitated by our partners Ambios) has aided his cancer recovery, taught him new things about nature - and made him realise he's becoming just like his mother...

Calendula, rose petals, chamomile and lemon balm tea! 🌷 🌼 🌿

Lots of medicinal plants and flowers are coming up in the garden now which are great for teas… these ones are especially calming for the nervous system and a bit of a heart hug with the rose petals! 🌹

Thanks Beth for sharing your brew with us ☕️
