Glenlivet Estate

Glenlivet Estate Stunning countryside in the Cairngorms National Park Glenlivet is an award winning, multiple-use upland estate.

Lying between the Ladder and Cromdale Hills in the Cairngroms National Park, the two broad straths of the rivers Avon and Livet form the 58,000 acre Glenlivet Estate, part of The Crown Estate. At its heart are the traditional land uses of farming, forestry and sport, today integrated with tourism, recreation and education. These uses are balanced with the need to protect and enhance the landscapes, wildlife and historic sites of the estate and ensure a future for the community.

We are very excited by the new Planet Trail at Glenmullie and it has been great to hear that people have already been enjoying it.

We are having the official opening this Thursday with our team from Tomintoul Primary who helped design the panels.

We would love to have you along to find out more about it. The ribbon cutting will be followed by a guided walk of the trail or you can explore it at your leisure.

This supports the work of the Dark Sky Group who manage the most northerly Dark Sky Park in the UK here on Glenlivet. We loved working with their members from Cairngorms Astronomy Group and Tomintoul and Glenlivet Development Trust.

Following on from our last post, we have been enjoying seeing all our breeding birds and it's special to see chicks up close too.

Some of these are very close to paths so it is a good reminder to keep dogs on a lead or under very close control.

We completed the last of our wader surveys this week and it was great to see numbers had improved from our first two visits.

It is always special to see redshank here - probably the rarest wader in the area and also notable to have good views of a linnet - this often gets lumped in with the 'little brown jobs' but it's got lots of colour when you get a close enough look.

The Tomintoul Wildflower Meadow is starting to grow and the new path has been cut for the first time.

Unfortunately we have teething problems with our audio but we are on the case.

We look forward to seeing you out enjoying the buzz of the meadow.
