Ferney Lee Primary had an exciting visit from Annapurna Indian Dance Company this week!

This project was funded by a grant from our Climate Emergency Committee, as it explores climate change and the impact individuals can have.

Through storytelling, film and dance, 'A Tree in Time' focuses on the story of Salumarada Thimmakka who planted thousands of trees in India to combat climate change!

Todmorden Town Council's Resources Committee meets tonight to decide on the outcome of the next round of grant applications, so we are excited to see what projects we will be able to support to enrich our town.

For more information on the Resources Committee meeting, all papers can be found on our website: https://todmorden-tc.gov.uk/event/resources-committee-8

Exciting to see the solar panels going up on Todmorden Hippodrome!

We were pleased to support Todmorden Community Energy to get this project up and running, through our grant funding. It will enable the Hippodrome to run much more sustainably!

Our Resources Committee meets tomorrow to decide on this grants round, and it will be exciting to see which projects and initiatives we can support in our town!

We had a lovely visit from Accessible Calderdale this week!

It's great to see the newly built Todmorden Pavilion being used by the community, and despite the rain the group still had a lovely tour of Centre Vale Park, and got to try out some brilliant tandem bikes.

Lovely to see other local groups coming out in support too - the Friends of Centre Vale Park who ran the walking/wheeling tour, Todmorden Bowls Academy who offered an accessible bowling session and helped with refreshments, and Active Calderdale for helping the event happen.

The Todmorden Pavilion is available to book for just £10/hour: https://todmorden-tc.gov.uk/pavilion/

Another FREE opportunity for local charities and voluntary groups - a webinar on 'Closing the Digital Experience Gap' from Cranfield Trust.

In this 60-minute session (including Q&A), you'll discover:

The crisis: As digital expectations set by everyday brands rise exponentially, the gap between what volunteers expect and what charities deliver has become a participation killer. When onboarding is clunky, roles are unclear and processes are rigid, volunteers move on – to better, easier alternatives.

The insight: From qualitative research with leading national charities (Save The Children, Cancer Research UK, RNLI, Age UK and others), what works: clarity on value exchange, flexibility, real human connection, effortless digital, and strategic AI use.

The benefit: The Great State team will offer up four actionable workstreams to help level up and shorten the gap between typical volunteering experience and what today’s volunteers expect.

This session is for anyone responsible for volunteering – whether you lead strategy, manage volunteers, run digital, or deliver day-to-day at any size charity. You'll leave knowing exactly what to do next!
