Before half term, Tiverton Town Hall welcomed student representatives from local secondary schools for an important discussion about opportunities for young people in Tiverton and how their voices can play a greater role in shaping the future of the town.
The event marked the beginning of conversations around the potential creation of a Tiverton Youth Council or Youth Forum, providing young people with a platform to share their views, influence local decision-making and develop as the civic leaders of tomorrow.
The session was led by members of the Devon County Council Youth Council, who shared their experiences of representing young people and making a positive impact within their communities. Representatives from Devon County Council, Mid Devon District Council and Tiverton Town Council were also in attendance to listen to the ideas and aspirations put forward by the students.
It was encouraging to see such enthusiasm, thoughtful contributions and a genuine desire from young people to become more involved in their community.
Tiverton Town Council would like to thank all the students who took part and contributed to such a positive and constructive discussion. We look forward to supporting the next steps in developing opportunities for young people to have their voices heard in Tiverton.
