Another exciting learning opportunity today as we welcomed some very special visitors into our classroom – ducklings!

The children were fascinated to meet the ducklings and observe them up close. This linked perfectly to our recent learning about life cycles, growth and change. We talked about how ducklings hatch from eggs, what they need to survive and how they develop as they grow.

The children asked thoughtful questions, shared their knowledge and made connections to the caterpillars and butterflies we have been observing in class. Seeing real-life examples of life cycles helps to bring our learning to life and inspires curiosity about the natural world around us.

What a wonderful experience and a lovely reminder of the amazing changes that happen in nature!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this special visit possible. It certainly created lots of excitement and meaningful learning opportunities for our children.

Over the last few days, Class 1 have been immersed in the wonderful book Clean Up by Nathan Bryon. 🌎♻️

The story has inspired us to think carefully about the impact we have on our environment and why it is so important to dispose of our waste responsibly. We discovered how plastic pollution can harm the animals living in our rivers and oceans and discussed the small changes we can all make to help protect our planet.

The children have been busy creating ocean animals from recycled plastics, transforming waste materials into beautiful pieces of art. They have also designed displays and written powerful messages to encourage others to care for the world around them and remember just how precious our planet is.

Our learning then led us into a scientific investigation. We made predictions about which materials would float and which would sink before testing our ideas through a practical experiment. It was fantastic to see the children thinking like scientists, asking questions, making observations and discussing their findings.

We are so proud of the children's creativity, curiosity and growing understanding of how we can all play a part in looking after our environment. 🌍💙

What a truly magical moment in Class 1 today! 🐛🦋

Over the past few weeks, we have carefully observed our caterpillars as they transformed into chrysalides. Then today, right before our very eyes, the wonder of metamorphosis took place as we watched a beautiful butterfly emerge.

We feel incredibly lucky to experience such an amazing part of nature's life cycle in our classroom. The children were captivated by the process and filled with awe as they witnessed this special moment firsthand.

Our butterfly adventure then inspired some spring-themed maths learning, where we explored grouping and counting using butterflies. It was wonderful to see the children making links between their real-life observations and their classroom learning.

Moments like these remind us just how inspiring and exciting learning can be! 🌸🦋✨

I would like to take this opportunity to say what a pleasure it has been to bring the children away on this residential. They are a credit to you (parents and guardians) and also to the school.

Our final day of residential was spent exploring the zoo, discovering amazing animals from around the world !

The children have been an absolute credit to our school throughout the trip—showing excellent behaviour, kindness and enthusiasm wherever we have been. We are incredibly proud of them all.

After a fantastic few days of adventure, learning and laughter, we have some very tired children (and staff!) who are definitely ready for an early night tonight!

Tonight, the children enjoyed a fun-filled trip to the bowling alley, where there was plenty of friendly competition, encouragement and laughter. It was wonderful to see friendships, teamwork in action and so many smiling faces as everyone celebrated each other's successes.

After a busy day of exploring and learning, it was the perfect opportunity to relax, have fun and make even more special memories together.

Fingers crossed for another peaceful night and plenty of energy for tomorrow's activities!

Residentials provide so much more than just learning opportunities—they help children develop independence, resilience, confidence and friendships that will last long after the trip is over. We are incredibly proud of them all.
