The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman has published a report examining ADHD and autism services across England. The findings highlight issues including long waiting times, a lack of clear information about pathways and variation in support depending on where people live.

The report calls for stronger national guidance, improved coordination and clearer information to help people access assessment, diagnosis and ongoing support.

As September begins, many children and young people will be preparing to return to school, meeting new teachers, reconnecting with friends and settling into new routines.

For others, the start of the school year may look very different.

Some children and young people with SEND may be waiting for a school place, awaiting decisions about provision, experiencing difficulties with attendance, or facing challenges returning to education after a difficult period.

Whatever your family's situation, it is important to remember that support is available.

๐Ÿ”ธ Every child's journey is different,
๐Ÿ”ธ Settling into education can take time,
๐Ÿ”ธ Working together can help achieve positive outcomes.

If you have questions about SEN Support, EHCPs, school placements, attendance, exclusions or other SEND-related matters, SEND IASS can provide free, confidential and impartial information, advice and support:
