Congratulations to Lee for passing his basic training. We can't wait to welcome Lee as part of the crew.

Meet our newest firefighters! Our new on-call firefighters all live or work within five minutes of an on-call fire station and will respond to incidents when paged 👨‍🚒 👩‍🚒

They will be heading to Billericay Fire Station, Wickford Fire Station, Thaxted Fire Station, Manningtree Fire Station, Brentwood Fire Station, and Shoeburyness Fire Station.

The team completed their two-week intensive training course today and will continue their training at their home stations.

Meet our newest recruit Lee! 🚒

He said: “Turning 50 felt like the right time to do something I'd always wanted to challenge myself with. I wanted to learn new skills, take on a role with real purpose, and continue growing personally.

"Becoming an on-call firefighter has given me that opportunity, while also allowing me to give back and serve my local community."

Yesterday evening Firefighter Mark Gordon was officially presented with his pager by Station Manager Kevin Jenner. 📟

​Receiving that pager means the months of hard work, training and dedication have officially paid off. Mark is now fully operational and ready to respond to shouts alongside the rest of the crew. 🧑‍🚒🚒

Please join us in celebrating a massive milestone for Watch Manager Stephen Morris, who marked the start of his 40th year at Thaxted Fire Station last week. 🚒

​Steve’s journey began on May 22nd, 1986, when he joined the station at just 18 years old.

Over the decades, his leadership, commitment, and dedication have been a cornerstone of our station and a vital asset to the local community. 👏

​Looking back, the wildfires of 2022 stand out for Steve among the thousands of shouts he has attended. 🔥

Thank you for all you do for Thaxted Fire Station and your community Steve. Next stop 50 years! 🍾

Early this morning we were sent to relieve crews who had spent the night battling a large fire at a property in Harlow.

We dampened down and extinguished any remaining hotspots.

A fire investigation is taking place to find the cause of the fire.

Mark said: “I’m retired now, so I’ve finally got the time that I didn’t have before. I’ve always wanted to give something back to the town, and this felt like the right way to do it. It keeps me active, involved in the community, and gives me a real sense of purpose.”

Our crew spent last night at Old House Lane, Roydon, battling a large-scale industrial fire alongside Newport Fire Station W84 and several crews from Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
​Arriving to find the unit 100% alight, firefighters worked through the night to extinguish the blaze.
The incident was closed at 6.42am and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.

At 3am this morning we were called to an incident at a glass factory in Harlow.

Our crew and others from across the service wore breathing apparatus to cool molten glass that had leaked from a furnace.

At the height of this incident there were 12
fire engines on scene and the crews were rotated heavily to keep on top of the situation in difficult conditions.

We are happy to say the incident is now being scaled down.

We are currently on the scene of a fire at a hotel in Braintree.

Crews worked hard to put the fire out quickly and the incident is expected to be scaled down shortly.

Crews will remain on scene to monitor hotspots.
