Swings & Smiles is a charity providing support, friendship and play for children with special needs and their families.

We're based in West Berkshire and offer play sessions at our centre, a sibling support service and a community outreach service. Swings & Smiles provides a welcoming, bright, fun and safe place, full of children with special needs, their siblings and carers it will be somewhere families can go together to share experiences and be able to support one another at the same time as not being judged or made to feel ill at ease which can often be the case when with children with special needs.

👋 Could your workplace volunteer with Swings & Smiles?

This Volunteers’ Week, we’re giving a special shoutout to the teams who support us through corporate volunteer days. Whether that’s helping at events, pitching in with practical projects, or giving time that helps keep our sessions running smoothly.

A huge thank you to Cavendish Nuclear, based right here in Newbury, whose team rolled up their sleeves to refresh our spaces! From painting and decorating indoors to helping tidy and improve our outdoor areas. Their volunteering didn’t just make an immediate difference, it also led to them awarding us a grant, helping us continue supporting local families 💜

Corporate volunteering is a brilliant way to do something meaningful together, and it makes a real difference for our children with disabilities and their families.

Volunteer Play Leaders = superheroes. 🌈

During sessions, our volunteer play leaders help children explore, play and connect in ways that work for them. From joining in with activities to offering calm, friendly support and helping create a space that feels safe and fun.

This Volunteers’ Week, we’re celebrating the people who help make inclusive play possible, week in week out. We’d especially love to give a shout out to Mary, one of our real-life superheroes, who helps make moments like the pictured, possible 💜

Good luck to everyone taking part in the Newbury 10k this bank holiday Monday! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🎉

We’re so proud to be a part of this fantastic event and would like to say a huge thank you to Newbury Athletics Club and all the sponsors for choosing Swings & Smiles as this year's primary beneficiary and putting so much in to making a great race day. 💜

The team from West Berkshire Injury Clinic will be on hand throughout the day offering pre & post-race therapy massages for just £10, with all proceeds going to Swings & Smiles.

Whether you’re chasing a PB, running for fun, or cheering from the sidelines, we can’t wait to see everyone there and be part of such an amazing community event!
