PLAY TOWER OUT OF USE 🙁
The play tower in Hermitage Road play area needs a major repair following a recent inspection so it's fenced off until we can make it safe again. We're seeking an urgent repair and will have the play area in full working order as soon as we can.

The Cold Ash drop-in session on early proposals for new homes, green spaces and community facilities in the North East of Thatcham is happening tomorrow (Thursday 30.4.2026).
Come along to the Committee Room of Acland Memorial Hall from 4pm - 8 pm, to view the proposals, speak to the team and share your ideas.

The consultation is being led by the North East Thatcham Partnership, working with West Berkshire Council, and will help shape an emerging Masterplan as part of the Local Plan Review.

Our upcoming Parish Council meeting will include consideration of two planning applications for statutory consultee comment. Residents are warmly invited to attend and share any local knowledge during the Public Participation section at the start of the meeting.

Planning Applications to be reviewed:
• 26/00697/CLASSR – St Gabriels Farm, The Ridge
Notification of Permitted Development (Class R) – Proposed change of use of part of an agricultural building to a Flexible Use (Classes B2, B8 and E).
• 26/00720/HOUSE – Ashmead House, Ashmore Green Road, Ashmore Green - Householder application – Single storey rear extension, porch extension, and garage conversion/extension.

West Berkshire Council has released new information about the emerging Masterplan for North East Thatcham, and they’re asking local residents to get involved.

The plan includes up to 2,500 new homes, two new primary schools, land for a secondary school, new green spaces, walking and cycling routes, and improved public transport. As the press release explains, “The Masterplan is not a planning application… it will set out the vision, land uses and development principles” that future applications must follow.

Three community drop‑in events are coming up where you can view the proposals and speak with the project team:

📍 Fri 24 April – Bucklebury Memorial Hall (16:30–20:00)
📍 Mon 27 April – Thatcham Parish Hall (16:00–20:00)
📍 Thu 30 April – Acland Memorial Hall, Cold Ash (16:00–20:00)
