The Town Council met on Tuesday 13 October at 6.30pm in the Upper Chamber at Thame Town Hall. The Council received a presentation from Citizens Advice Oxfordshire South & Vale, which provided an insight into the support and advice services provided to residents.

Members received an update from County and District Councillors; highlights included:

- Oxford traffic filter consultation following the start of the trial on 28 September 2026.
- Councillor Priority Fund, is open for applications until 30 November 2026.
- Councillor Community Grant Scheme is open until 4 December 2026
- The Climate Action Fund is open for applications until 20 November 2026.

The Council’s External Auditor’s Report and Certificate for 2025/26 were received, and the External Auditor’s limited assurance opinion for 2025/26 was noted.

Last week, players from Thame Red Kites Walking Football team travelled out to Lagos, Portugal for an international walking football tournament. The team included Thame Mayor, Cllr. Andy Gilbert and was organised by Keiran Feighoney who said:

“This was our first international tournament and something we definitely plan to be involved with again. Great sports, good friendships and a super tour.”

Thame Red Kites Walking Football team has been going for a few years as a men’s team, and also recently launched a women’s team.

Meet the Mayor & Deputy Mayor on the market!

On the third Tuesday of every month, Councillors from Thame Town Council have a stall at our Charter Market. This month, Thame Mayor, Cllr Andy Gilbert and Deputy Mayor, Cllr Andy Wainwright will be on the market. Last week, works to improve the main path through Cuttle Brook Local Nature Reserve were completed. The project has reinstated the original path providing an approximately 1.2m-wide firm surface, making this important route easier to use for people who are walking, wheeling or using mobility aids.

Thank you for your patience whilst we carried out these works. We look forward to seeing more people being able to enjoy this beautiful part of Thame.

Thame’s 2027 Calendars have arrived!

Thank you to everyone who entered the Thame Calendar competition. We had over 100 entries for the 2027 calendar and all the photos that were sent were fantastic, so it was extremely hard to choose the best 12 photos to fit for each month of the year.

The calendars are now available to buy for £8.50 from the Information Centre and include exciting 2027 event dates. The calendars are ideal to put in your kitchen, office or can be given as Christmas presents for your family.

Oxfordshire County Council are asking for your views on the proposal to introduce a 20mph speed limit on the new roads within ‘Hampden Gardens’ (i.e. Thame Park Estates) residential development south of the B4012 Wenman Road, at the south-eastern end of Thame.

This current consultation relates to the new housing estate off Wenman Road. The speed limit on the roads of the existing housing estate to the west of Hode Garth is NOT part of this 20mph consultation.

The proposals will help promote road safety for all road users within the estate and will ensure adherence to the Councils policy that all new residential developments should see a lower speed limit as standard.

On the second Tuesday of every month our regular market is joined by Thame Local Produce Market, with stalls displaying an incredible range of produce from the local area and further afield.

Excitingly, South Oxfordshire District Council will also be at the market next week with a stall all about food waste and equality. Don’t miss it!
