πŸŽ‰ Congratulations to two of our most treasured foster carers!

We are delighted to share that two of Telford & Wrekin's own foster carers have been recognised in The King's Birthday Honours 2026, each receiving an MBE for Services to Foster Care and to Children with Disabilities and their Families.

As our longest-serving active foster carers with almost 37 incredible years of dedication Pamela and John Garbett are an inspiration to everyone in our fostering community. Their commitment to the children in their care, particularly those with disabilities, has been nothing short of extraordinary.

Today's announcement is a truly wonderful recognition of everything they give, and we couldn't be more proud.

Please join us in sending our warmest congratulations to Pam and John on this very special honour. πŸ’›

✨ Thank You to Our Incredible Foster Care Community ✨

Last Friday evening, we brought Foster Care Fortnight to a close with a wonderful celebration alongside our amazing foster carers, special guardians, and members of our wider fostering community.

We were honoured to welcome a special guest, the Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire, Mrs Anna Turner, who spent time talking with foster carers, kinship carers, our virtual school colleagues, and Liam, one of our young apprentices from the Voice of the Child team. It was a genuine reflection of the strength, warmth and dedication within our fostering community.

It was especially heartening to hear carers speak so positively about the support they receive - from the quality of training to the difference it makes being part of a local authority fostering service. One carer shared how pleased they were to have transferred from an independent fostering agency, feeling more supported than ever.

But above all, the evening was about one thing: saying a huge thank you to you, our incredible foster carers.

Your compassion, commitment and care make a life-changing difference to children and young people in our community when they need it most. We are so proud of everything you do. πŸ’™

🌟 Week 2 of Foster Care Fortnight is off to a wonderful start!

Yesterday we were delighted to welcome foster carers, kinship carers and special guardians, alongside colleagues from children's services, for a truly inspiring session.

We had the privilege of hearing from brothers Matt and Andy - founders of LifeUK who shared their powerful story of growing up in care. They spoke movingly about the difference that Positive Diversions made in their lives, and how finding the right outlet can give children in care the confidence, self-worth and sense of belonging they deserve as they navigate the emotional challenges that often come with their journey.

It was also a brilliant opportunity to network with the wider team around the child πŸ’›- exploring how we can encourage children to find positive diversions that play to their individual strengths and interests, and why these should be a meaningful part of every child's plan. Because they matter. For health, for well-being, for life.

πŸ’™ There are so many ways to foster a local child, to love and nurture them when they need you most. Whether you can offer part-time support or full-time care, we would love to hear from you.

πŸ“… Join us at our next information evening - 5.30pm today at Ketley Community Centre for an informal, no-pressure chat.

🌟 Week Two of Foster Care Fortnight is almost here, and what a week one to look back on! 🌟

As we head into another exciting week, we're sharing some wonderful snapshots from just some of last week's events - and what a mix it was!

πŸ“š Midweek we gathered for Exploitation and Vulnerability training with West Mercia Police, described by attendees as an excellent course and essential learning for everyone in our fostering community. And a Therapeutic Approach Through Play with Therapeutic Practitioner Ali so inspired carers they want to make it a regular feature on our fostering calendar. Investing in knowledge is one of the most powerful things we can do for the children in our care.

πŸ’š But it wasn't all training. We also made sure to look after ourselves! Because happy, healthy carers make the best carers.

β›³ Our evening on the driving range was pure joy; from the simple triumph of making contact with the ball (a win in itself!) to watching our more seasoned golfers send it soaring into the distance. Every swing was a smile.

🚢 A community walk and talk through the beautiful Telford Town Park, followed by a warming cuppa and great conversation is just what the soul needs.

πŸ”΄ And our ever-popular FCF Rounders Evening was absolutely brilliant! It was wonderful to see foster families of all shapes and sizes, children of every age, and grown-ups from right across our fostering community coming together to play, spectate and take part. We were especially thrilled to welcome Liam from our Young Apprentices Voice of the Child team - your presence meant so much to us all. πŸ’›

A huge, heartfelt thank you to Cath, Chair of the FCA, for organising the games so brilliantly, and to the fabulous Telford Hornets Rugby Club for being such a wonderful host venue once again. You're a big part of what makes these events so special. πŸ‰

✨ Now, who's ready for Week Two?! We can't wait to see you, starting with Smash Life tomorrow! Whether you're a familiar face or joining us for the first time, come along, bring your energy, and let's make this week just as memorable.

Every event, every conversation, every shared moment - it all matters. You matter. Let's go! πŸ’ͺ❀️

We were delighted to welcome our local MP Shaun Davies to our Stay and Play coffee morning this week. β˜•πŸ§‘

It was a fantastic opportunity for our foster carers to meet Shaun, to share their experiences, and talk about the incredible work they do supporting children and young people across Telford.

We're grateful to Shaun for taking the time to listen and engage with our fostering community, it means a lot to our carers to feel heard and valued.

A huge thank you to our wonderful Telford Foster Carer Association officers - Cath, Pauline, Kirsty and David with the committee who work tirelessly to organise these events and create such a warm, supportive space for our carers. You are stars! ⭐

We'd also like to give a big shoutout to Telford Hornets Rugby Club for hosting us at their venue. The Hornets have been fantastic supporters of our Foster Carer Association and we're so grateful for their continued kindness and generosity. πŸ‰
