Out with the old and in with the new....exciting times on the Hill

πŸ“’ Demolition works at Severn Walk in Sutton Hill have started – making way for a brand new community centre on the existing β€˜Hub on the Hill’ site. 🏨

The building at the rear of the Hub on the Hill, which is empty, very unsightly and attracting anti-social behaviour, is being knocked down as part of the first phase of works. πŸ—οΈ πŸ‘·πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ

There will be overnight security whilst the demolition is taking place.

We're managing this project working in partnership with Madeley Town Council.

Plans for the new hub include ⬇️

➑️ Central atrium area for events
➑️ Cafe
➑️ Larger hall enabling more sports and leisure activities
➑️ Community library
➑️ Youth and education room
➑️ New neighbourhood health hub

What a great family sports session today lead by Hub on the Hill at Sutton Hill and Love, Play, Active. We played rounders and then football, with some top skills shown by kids and parents alike. Think we need to get a league going!

Officers have issued a 48-hour dispersal order in response to an increase in anti-social behaviour in the Sutton Hill area of Telford.

The order came into effect at 7.10pm yesterday (Wednesday 26 August) AND will remain in place until 7pm tomorrow (Friday 28 August). The section 35 Dispersal Order notice under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act 2014 is for the Southgate area.

While the order is in place it provides extra powers to police officers to exclude individuals from the area who cause anti-social behaviour.

The dispersal powers can also be used to remove those committing crime and disorder not only when they have occurred or are occurring, but when they are deemed likely to occur and in any locality.

Sergeant Matt Corfield, from Telford Central Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "We have seen an increase in reports of anti-social behaviour in the Sutton Hill area, and this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated.

"The dispersal order gives officers additional powers to deal with those causing nuisance, disorder and distress within the community. We want residents to feel safe in their neighbourhoods, and we will continue to take robust action against anyone involved in anti-social behaviour.

"I would encourage local people to report any incidents to us so that we can build an accurate picture of what is happening and take the appropriate action."
