📚 Next Week at Oakengates Library!

The Learn Telford team will be visiting Oakengates Library on Tuesday 15 September 2026, from 10am to 12pm, offering information about learning and progression opportunities available across the borough.

Whether you're looking to gain new skills, improve your qualifications, explore adult learning courses, or simply find out what's available locally, pop in for an informal chat with the team.

💡 Learn Telford is also exploring the possibility of running courses in the local area and would love to hear your thoughts on the types of courses you would be interested in attending.

High Street Heroes give you the opportunity to nominate your favourite high street business or the one which goes the extra mile in each of our Borough towns.🏆 ⭐ ⭐

Last year over 1500 nominations were received and a total of 29 High Street Heroes were crowned across the six Borough towns of Dawley, Ironbridge, Madeley, Newport, Oakengates and Wellington.

Winners ranged from pubs and hair salons to kitchen specialists, clothes shops, cafes and travel centres. 👚 ☕

We’ll be announcing the winners in the run-up to Small Business Saturday on Saturday 5 December, a day which recognises small, independent businesses in our communities and encourages people to shop local - not just at Christmas time but all year round. 🛒 🛍️

📣 Armed Forces Outreach – September 2026
Throughout September, Telford & Wrekin Council is hosting a variety of Armed Forces Outreach events and activities across the borough.

The programme offers chances to link up with support services, meet local groups and take part in community events and activities happening across Telford.

Oakengates Community Action Team Update 🌿

Oakengates Community Action Team has been busy working across the area to help keep the town clean, tidy and welcoming for everyone.

Recent work has included grass cutting, hedge maintenance, litter picking, responding to dog fouling reports and carrying out a range of general maintenance tasks in public spaces. The team continues to monitor the local area, address issues raised by residents and help maintain the appearance of our parks, pathways and community spaces.

✅ Primary and junior school applications close: 15 January 2027
✅ Applications for children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) should be submitted by 31 October 2026, regardless of whether they are starting primary, junior or secondary education.

Temporary Byway Open To All Traffic Closure - Station Fields, Oakengates

Virgin Media are planning to undertake blockage clearing works. The work is set to commence tomorrow (Tuesday 1st September 2026) and will last for a duration 3 days with an end date of Thursday 3rd September 2026.

The diversion route for all travelling in all directions will be signed on site.
