‼️T&W School Travel Assistance / 30th June Deadline‼️

Telford and Wrekin School Travel Assistance Programme is a Home to Education transport arrangement for eligible children and young people who require support for travelling to and from education only.

There are specific eligibility requirements to be able to be awarded the travel assistance, please check on the website and note that it is assessed on a case-by-case basis based on the eligibility criteria. https://www.telford.gov.uk/roadworks-transport-and-streets/travel-telford/travelling-to-school/school-travel-assistance/

For applications made for young people without an Education Health and Care Plan, a bus pass will be offered in line with policy. Please see the School Travel Assistance Policy for further
information on the website.🚎

If you are applying for travel assistance for the next academic year, all applications must be received by the council by 30th June. Applications received after this date cannot guarantee that travel training/assistance will be in place for the start of the new term.

*Please be aware that it can take up to 20 working days for a decision to be made on eligibility.*

2 Way Temporary Traffic Lights will be in place along Chetwynd Road, Newport on Thursday 18th June to Wednesday 24th June.

🚦Sytch Lane To Bolas Junction, Cold Hatton
2 Way Temporary Traffic Lights will be in place from Sunday 14th June to Wednesday 1st July

⛔️ Longford Road, Newport
Road Closure will be in place along Longford Road, Newport from Monday 15th June to Friday 10th July

⛔️ Whitchurch Drive, Wellington
Road Closure will be in place southbound only from Apley Roundabout towards Haybridge Roundabout from Thursday 18th June to Friday 19th June.

⛔️ Whitchurch Drive, Wellington
Road Closure will be in place northbound only towards Apley Roundabout From Monday 22nd June to Friday 26th June.

We’re so proud of Lawley Village Primary Academy & Nursery 🥳
They have been taking part in a year long project ➡️ ‘A New School Journey’ in partnership with the Active Travel and Road Safety Team. The project aims to increase active travel 🚲🛴🚶‍♀️and boost road safety knowledge ✋👀

💚 Lantern Academy recently took delivery of 7 Re-Wheeled Bikes as part of our bike recycling scheme.

Pupils were given refurbished bikes along with new helmets and cycle training to get them pedal ready! 🚲🚲

Transition Workshops - Year 6 👩‍🏫🚲🚶‍♀️

🛑 The Active Travel and Road Safety Team have been at HLC today, talking to Year 6 pupils about their upcoming journeys to secondary school!

➡️ Many pupils start making more independent journeys when they start secondary school and it’s important they know how to keep themselves safe ✋

🟢 The Next Step workshop covers journey planning, road safety, distractions and much more! Including using VR 🥽 headsets - which always goes down well 😎
