We’re incredibly proud to report that our colleague Matt 'Boots' Hallett has successfully completed the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia, as part of the events marking the 25th anniversary of the attacks of September 11, 2001 and raising money for Fire Fighters Charity, The Blue light Card Foundation and The Terry Farrell Fallen Firefighters Fund.

Matt travelled to Atlanta alongside colleagues from Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service and firefighters from across the UK and Ireland, joining hundreds of their American brothers and sisters to climb the equivalent of 110 floors in full firefighting kit.
Every step was taken in remembrance of the 343 FDNY firefighters who lost their lives on 9/11, and Matt had the particular honour of climbing in memory of Firefighter Peter J. Langone of FDNY Engine 252.
We’d also like to say a huge thank you to everyone from Teignmouth and further afield who supported Matt, shared his fundraising, donated or simply wished him well.
The climb may now be complete, but the reason for doing it remains.
