Coming to Tavistock Town Hall on Saturday 17th October

📣 INTRODUCING CURIOUS TALKS

We're delighted to launch Curious Talks – a new series bringing fascinating speakers, big ideas and unusual subjects to venues across the Tamar Valley.

And we're kicking things off this October with not one, but TWO talks from award-winning buildings archaeologist and author Dr James Wright.

🏛️ SATURDAY 17 OCTOBER | Tavistock Town Hall
THE BUILDINGS ARCHAEOLOGIST

What secrets are hiding in the historic buildings all around us?

Celebrating the launch of his new book, The Buildings Archaeologist, James explores how the true age and history of our buildings can be uncovered – including Tudor houses hidden behind Victorian façades and medieval cottages beneath Georgian frontages.

🍺 SUNDAY 18 OCTOBER | Firebrand Brewing Co, LAUNCESTON
HISTORIC BUILDING MYTHBUSTING

Secret tunnels under towns, ship timbers in the attic, spiral staircases and ancient pubs - we've all heard the stories, but how much truth is actually behind them?

Join James for a chilled Sunday afternoon at Firebrand as he puts some of our best-known historic building myths to the test, revealing what the evidence actually tells us - all while enjoying some of the regions finest craft beers 🍻

🎟️ Tickets are on sale now – come along to one, or join us for both!

My happy place. Two hours of peace and quiet this morning. I just love being up and out early, taking in the fresh air, beautiful views and the calmness around me. We really are so lucky.

Made it home just before the rain came in, and now I’m sat with a coffee, listening to it gently falling outside. A lovely, slow start to Sunday.

Hope you’re all having a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend, whatever you’re up to. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday.
