🔊Tamworth Borough Council has taken an important step towards delivering more affordable and social housing after cabinet approved plans for the authority to apply to become a Homes England partner.

If agreed by Homes England, it will allow the council to apply for grant funding to support social housing and affordable housing development.

This approach allows the council to respond promptly to funding opportunities, to support the capital costs of building new social housing and help bring forward future housing developments across the borough.

🔊Tamworth Borough Council is taking a significant step forward in the regeneration of the town centre by investing in the upgrade of its street and public space lighting. Using the remaining allocation of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the council is replacing outdated, inefficient lighting systems with modern, energy-efficient LED and smart technologies.

💡The lighting upgrade will cost £140,629 to deliver, impacting more than 100 individual lighting installations across the town centre, including the Castle Grounds and St Editha’s Church.

It will provide brighter, more uniform illumination that enhances safety and creates welcoming public spaces for residents, visitors, and local businesses. Alongside safety benefits, the new systems will reduce energy consumption and costs, supporting the council’s ongoing commitment to a greener, more sustainable Tamworth.
