The decline of hedgehog numbers is directly related to the activites of human beings and with the help of dedicated people like Carol

we can work together to help these endearing creatures. Wild birds are also suffering declines in numbers and again this is due to human activity. When sick, injured or orphaned hedgehogs and birds are brought to Carol, she assesses what is needed to be done to help. Her aim is to rehabilitate every individual back into the wild but sometimes this is not possible so long term care is found. Carol is supported by a team of dedicated volunteers who help out in a variety of ways. Some volunteers become foster carers looking after hedgehogs that are not ready to be released back to the wild. Other volunteers help out by making crafts to sell or helping out at fund- raising events. There are a huge number of ways volunteers can help Carol so if you are interested please get in touch. Hedgehogs tend to prefer chicken or meat flavoured food in jelly or as a loaf. Carol welcomes donations of newspaper and shredded newspaper for bedding and old towels or tea towels or fleecy blankets for bedding. Carol is always looking for donated rabbit hutches or rabbit runs or plastic runs suitable forgunea pigs. Extra donated hutches help us to set up new foster carers at minimum expense. Carol is always happy to have a cash donation to pay for things like medication, syringes, gloves and wipes. Carol is happy to give talks to schools, WI groups, cubs or scouts etc so if your organisation would like a talk please let her know.

Some mindless idiot thought it would be fun to put this around the neck of a hedgehog. The metal spikes were in the skin. The ribbon was so tight I was surprised it was still alive. There was no way it could have gotten on the hedgehog without help. A nice lady brought her to me at 1am. 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
