Learning Disability Week 2026 đź’ś

This Learning Disability Week, we’re celebrating the voices, achievements, goals and aspirations of the people we support. The theme “Do You See Me?” is about making sure people with learning disabilities are seen, heard and valued.

Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing stories from our You Said, We Did forums, achievements, and what people are looking forward to this summer, including holidays, days out and activities.

The people we support will also be taking part in workshops across Salford, joining free activities and information sessions on health and wellbeing. You’ll see lots of photos and feedback from them throughout the week.

We look forward to celebrating the people we support đź’ś

This Carers Week, we're recognising everyone who cares for others.

Beth, a support worker at Waterside Specialist Support, shared what she loves most about caring:

"The aim of our job is supporting people to live healthy and well-rounded lives. Seeing people have a fulfilling life makes it all worthwhile."

While Carers Week shines a spotlight on unpaid carers, we'd also like to thank the dedicated staff who work alongside families and carers every day.

This week is Carers Week, a chance to recognise the amazing work of unpaid carers and everything they do for the people they care for.

We know that caring for someone can be rewarding, but it can also be challenging. That's why we wanted to highlight some of the support available across our hubs in Salford.

If you care for an older person, someone with dementia, or someone with a disability, we offer a range of support including day respite, overnight respite, carers groups, community hubs and cafés.

Whilst many of our services support the person you care for, they can also give you the opportunity to take a break, attend appointments, catch up on everyday tasks, meet people in similar situations, or even have a chat with someone who understands.

We've put together a quick guide to show what each of our hubs has to offer. To find out more about the support available please visit: www.salford.gov.uk/adults

This , we're proud to support Gaddum's That Counts as Caring campaign.

Many people don't realise they're carers because supporting a loved one feels like part of everyday life. But no matter who you care for, how often you care, or whether you call yourself a carer or not, that counts as caring.

Gaddum provides free support for carers, including carers' assessments, one-to-one support, benefits advice, wellbeing activities, support groups and services for carers across Manchester and Salford.

Every carer deserves support when they need it. Please visit https://www.gaddum.org.uk/campaigns/that-counts-as-caring/

Celebrating Our St George's Dancers. 🎉

We are incredibly proud of our dancers for their fantastic performance at the We Invented the Weekend at The Lowry.

Their hard work, dedication and confidence shone through on stage, and it was great to see them enjoying every moment. We would like to share some of the lovely feedback we received:

"The group has been working on this performance since early March. The guys helped choose the songs they wanted to use and have worked hard. It was great to see them enjoying themselves on stage and how proud they were of themselves and each other. They are a joy to teach." — Martine, Tracing Steps Dance Teacher

"We had a fantastic time and really enjoyed it. Everyone worked so hard and performed together brilliantly. The staff at St George's and Martine were amazing. Even when the music stopped, they handled it professionally and carried on. All that hard work paid off." — Rachel's Mum

A huge well done to everyone involved. You should all be very proud of yourselves. 🌟
